Unwinnable games and unlosable games

I'm still surprised at how insanely frequently the matchmaker manages to pump out games so unbalanced it actually feels like it is trying.

I recall watching a pro that stated you just have to take the "unwinnable" games in stride and move on. The 2-11 Ember spirits, the 0-9-2 Faceless Voids despite getting a free lane against a lone Windrunner. The games where the matchmaker decides you will lose regardless of what you do.

But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ just KEEPS throwing them at me currently. I had a 90% winrate last week (90% winrate). I'm MVP in about 4/5 of them, because I'm playing at a way too low rank. Now I'm getting a red streak with completely unwinnable games.

Pudge mid against Lanaya. Guy is level 4 against level 7 Lanaya. She has desolator, blink and lance in minute 15. Try to gank, he misses hook and walks into the tower and dies.

I'm Juggernaut pos 1. Support sits in trees while I get destroyed by Venomancer and Lina (don't ask me about these clown lanes, it's Archon). I go to the jungle and have 0 items until minute 20, at which point the support out of all people blames me for not helping and starts autofollowing me.

Sniper offlane. Starts with 0 items and 1 level in his E. First item Javalin. No boots, no regen. Dies 3 times in lane to a Faceless void (how?).

It makes me very bitter. You just look at teammates as potential timebombs - they might just make your game unwinnable instantly.

Feel your pain mate. Matchmaker is rigged. When finally I had few close games and a lot of wins - guess what happen :) Off course LOSE STREAK - and I have lost 24 from 30 games :) Never had so massive one. Tragic games which just drain all your energy. The worst possible ones. Than again I won 11 games from 12 :) and again I start losing everything because I'm getting so bad teammates on lose streak that games are unwinnable - just pure grief.

It is 50% win - 50% lose streak +/- 1-3 games to get people illusion of climbing MMR - clown fiesta all the time.

And do not listen people who say skill issue - I posted dozens of screen shots when I'm like 30-1, 40-0. Then next game all team is losing 50-10 ... All lanes lost, 5 supports in the team or 5 carries, stupid items build, griefing and etc

I've said this a billion times, but I do think the matchmaker is rigged. Not intentionally, but it is rigged. I think there exists some kind of "local balancing" heuristic that determines in what team to put you: the ones that lose most of their games, or those that win in your current skill bracket.

One thing I observed is that the unlosable games are almost never fully slavic in name (I play EUW, but it's overrun by these filfthy slavs, as we all know), while when I go on a matchmaker lose binge it's nothing but slavic names.

almost same story.

i did recalibration a week ago, got ancient II, since then i have been win 11 streak then lose 11 streak, 9 winstreak then 5 lose streak, a few win streak then a few lose streak rinse and repeat.

Today i leveled up to Ancient V and on my 1st game i got 3 actors.

1 suicidal Antimage
1 useless 1st pick undying pos 4
1 last pick Night Stalker pos 3 when we need better crowd control

Force 50% is real, anybody who deny it are delusional.

the only thing that can beat force 50% if you are atleast 5x more skilled than ur mmr. Which means an immortal smurf playing pos 1 or 2 in low rank.

I dont always assume rigged, I prefer uncalibrated. The matchmaker is an algorithm that just reads numbers and tries to balance those numbers. It doesnt take into account the experience of a player, the mood of the player, and more. For example, sometimes you will get ranked with 2 players of the same mmr but one has 10k hours while the other only has 100. Just because they are the same rank, does not make that match between them fair or balanced. There are also times when you get the best player in your rank but he is sour/toxic from a loss and just throws a game just to be spiteful. The matchmaker is just uneducated and its up to Valve to educate it. Because I am drowning in this ocean of absurdity.

Personally I think it's like I said: there appears to be some local heuristic that favors the "weaker" players. The way matches alternate are in a very illogical pattern - with long winstreaks balanced out by many losses - as opposed to more or less interweaving. There are also a LOT of autolose teammates in Dota 2 - people you can't reasonably compensate for (as mentioned in the OP), which you find in your game more often as you win "too much".

You seem have a nice Story there. Would you share the match ID because I am interested to watch it. Perhaps, your game story can be turned or made as a kind of experience to me also by watching your game I may use it as a new lesson to me.

There is always competition among the players. It's not the rigged matchmaking because if you want claim the matchmaking to be never rigged, then you should go and play the LOBBY games instead of challenging the MATCHMAKING (MM) there.

There are 2 different types of Dota games you may look at, the challenges you took through the lobbies or you took by using the MM.

Game Matches through lobby

1. You can set to rechallenge the same opponents
2. You can set to team-up with the same allies

Game Matches through MM

1. You rechallenge the unknown opponents (varied with very high pools)
2. You team-up with different allies when you solo or "none-5"

If you are good in profoundly understanding what I have stated above, then you should able to find out the pros & cons of both. Thus, at the same time, you should able to find solutions to countermeasure it. But, "Why did you still denying and complaining about it?"

FAQ (countermeasures):

1. If you are to re-challenging the unknown enemies continuously, "How can you expect the game system to match you with the same opponents for the next game when the active players about half a million already?"
-> Answer is, definitely the game system must introduce or use different opponents to match against you as your opponents (similar to your allies if you are solo).
2. When you are going as solo or with smaller composition of a team, "How can you expect the game system to match the same allies to you in every single game match including the games on the next minutes, hours, days, weeks, or years?"
-> Answer is, definitely the game system must introduce or use different allies if you are the one who decided to go for the next challenge by solo way, or with who because the game system cannot take your Dota friends and force them to play with you (where is the logic now?)

More abuse to go? Now, face the consequence for the fairest design ever made/returned because all these were consequence triggered by the bad players who abused during the past years where many players don't know the HISTORIES of MMR when it was introduced in year 2013.

There are no unloseable games. There are obviously unwinnable games... easy examples are when people pick hard carries as offlane, like PA offlane, Faceless Void offlane (too greedy, becomes food), the other team has to be completely worthless to lose to these kinds of picks.

What a POS matchmaker.

Gets us a real pro-team that for some ungodly reason is Crusader Rank 2-5? I am Crusader II. I am Crusader II because I know I'm not the best. But wtf is this.

Enemy team perfectly times their stun combos. Constantly deathballing as 5 man. Always seems to know where we are. Wards everywhere. And you get jumped wherever you go, even jungle. Lately I have been having games that feel so bad, I could swear on my life the enemy team is maphacking or something.

What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Dota 2 ranks are completely misaligned. Half the c***s on Crusader and Archon ranked should be Immortal+ they play so good. The other half should be way lower. WTF is wrong with ranks and matchmaking?!
