"Unique" type of support heroes
Hi all,

I'm looking for "unique" type of support heroes, what does this mean you might ask?
Well heroes that COULD be played as a support (well almost every hero can) but are more fitting for the original roles.
I'm looking at heroes like Wraith king, Mirana, etc.
Would a Wraith king for example work out if you play him as a support? He has a handy stun, lifesteal aura for everyone, can get revived so that means less feeding and so on.
If anyone knows these type of support heroes, i'd be glad to try them out in a supportive way
Will also appreciate any tips that goes along with the heroes.

Thank you kindly. -A helpful supporter, Applepie.

first that comes to mind is abbadon. he can carry just fine, but he also has a shield that can be applied to teammates, the ability to heal, a buff to all heroes who attack a specific unit, and his ult makes it so any damage given to him is converted into health.

Yeah, i've played a support abbadon a few times, he's pretty nice with his skill set, but i don't really like to play him. I feel as if abbadon is more of a semi-carry

WK support is actually really good IMO, great with a physical damage team since they all get lifsteal. My build is vlad/drums, blink dagger, abyssal balde, refresher.

A similar one is sven; he has a stun, team move speed and armor buff and if you get aghs it boosts team damage.

Thanks for the info about WK, as for sven i like him, but i never really considered him a support and it would feel weird to play support with a sven, guess i could always try it out though!

support zeus, dewarding champ

Zeus is pretty neat, i play him now and then, it's one of the heroes that's better as a support then the original role since he's too squishy and requires alot of mana depending on how you play.
Most people rush agha & refresher & hope to get rampages with his ult ^^

wk can be done as support perhaps, but not rly helpfull i guess since he doesnt really have support skills.

i play support 99% of the time...

nice unconventional supports are abaddon, go tranquil and spam mistcoil and with the hsield you can cancell alot of stuns and such + with the ult, you dont really need alot of farm to survive. and the passive slow stuff, is cool too... hes totally unconventional ( alot of peopel try to carry him but hes not rly a good carry) and i usually win games with him really easy, almost up to making enemy depressed at 20 mins already, since you can cancell most ults and stuns ( pudge ult, slows, stuns, 80% of the usual debuff skills)

if you like to have abit more work to it.... earth spirit makes a rly good support too...

you have a fancy escape, you usually have a stun or a silence ready atleast ( if you know how to preserve the stones for when you really need them) the ulti is abit underwhelming, but usually makes the teamfight break up and make the enemy run away. again, alot of people like to play him as carry, imo bad, same as abaddon....

and the same as abaddon the earth spirit have a really handy save too for teammmates, if for instance pudge is ulting someone, just use the E pull skill on your friendly, and you can pull em out of the pudge ult effectively cancelling it.... liek this you could save them for a block too, like fissure from shaker, kinetic field save from disruptor and so on.....

those both two heroes. abaddon and earth spirit, are quite unconventional in 3k mmr and below, perhaps above too, but abit more used ( still both not really popular but really helpfull) above that...

both they are unconventional in the sence of that usually people play them as carry, but imo they really shine as supports both of them, they both have really handy save skills, you can cancel so much stuff with them both, that they usually make the other team depressed, since you can ruin so much stuff for them haha i love them.

but still they have both quite some damage potential too, and together with the really handy nifty save stuff (shield debudd and heal on aba, earth spirit you can push enemies away, pull your own out of harm or push people on ledges perhaps)

both of them i play alot, only as support, not much done by other people, and theyren ot popular all together but hidden gems in the game as supports imo...

if you like to play support, and like to have so much saving potential to make other team dperessed you should try them both out... for real.. you dont see em alot, they surprise people, but they rock as suports.. go pick them, make the other team qq, i bet you can do it too within 30 mins haha. :ghlol:

Woah thanks for the big message, i'l rethink about abbadon (His skills are nice, that's for sure) and for ES, i have never really played him fully.
He has nice escapes and so on but it feels as hes too hard for me.
Ofcourse i could always try him out again.
Thanks for the info, i'd also want to have opinions on a sup mirana, it really intrests me.

Small side note: I like having a hero that can escape from situations with skills such as icarus dive, pounce, leap, blink, invis
Blondi Apr 22, 2015 @ 10:44am
pheonix can kinda support, his blast heals too qand such, and you can really slow and decrease the speed people attack, + you have a good teamfight skill (ult) + the escape skill...

but hes mainly played as carry though.

the thign with abaddon is, most people say you need to build meka, but his manapool cant never keep up with that iwthout payign too much for it, and losing on the other end.

best thing with aba is to build tranq as support, go a small regen itesm ( urn,aqi ring0 go skull basher ( abit hp and dmg you need + the stun) and then go perseverance ring ( you can get it quite fast and on time) and from that not have any mana + hp problems anymore.... sometimes i go aqi ring, sometimes urn, depends if oyu need more heal, or more attackspeed+bash....

you could also go all other items between the small regen item, and perse ring(usually i build it to linkens) since the small regen item+boots and perseverance ring isk inda all you need... ( if you dont take any other item that uses a actively mana.)

Pudge support is legit. He can pull creep waves to deny the enemy mid exp. Pull heroes out of position, has a 3 second disable that goes through magic immunity on 30 sec cooldown, and he doesn't need many items. All the symptoms of a good support

most of the heroes can be played as a support.
every hero that has nukes or stuns or slows or other disables.

Support Jugg? Sure. Support Quop? sure. Support Tinker? sure. Support Void? yeah.
Now it wont be effective, but they can at least be played as supports.

A couple heroes that CANNOT support are PA and Spectre in my opinion.
