Not true (entirely). The mid lane is made for a hero that needs farm AND levels to be effective. A level advantage typically leads to a strong gank, because you are naturally a higher level due to solo exp and a few items due to no one contesting farm. This is why Mids are typically a 2 role and peak mid game and tend to fall off later.
SF and Storm Spirit are Strong throughout the game. And regarding this other guy who said I suck if I don't use Storm Spirit to gank before I have my crucial items up I can just answer with some games I played (and stomped) by playing the way I played:
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/1431043332 Went 30-4 and carried against a PL (High Skill Bracket)
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/1432795223 21-2 vs AM, QoP and Viper (Normal Skill Bracket)
Storm is a carry and he doesn't fall off too much lategame. I would say he peaks a little bit earlier than let's say an AM/Medusa/PL/Naga but when you play him right he completely destroys the other team with the right amount of farm.
I never said I don't gank I just said I don't gank without having one of my core items up UNLESS there is a good opportunity.
I always get a TP and in case the enemy team attacks a tower I go in guns blazing but I don't sacrifice a huge amount of farm for the possibility of getting an early kill on another lane but mid because it hurts my team.
Storm Spirit is built for ganking, yes. but he needs mana regeneration to do so and for that you need items. You can Tp from fountain, immediately use bottle, zip in, use soul ring and get a kill or 2 but after that you're dry, no mana left.
Uh, no, thats not how you play DotA 2. Its never a good idea to just abandon a lane and let it fall.
I totally agree with that. If you got a good ultimate with a mid hero you can often get a kill just because you 6 and the sidelanes arent.
All i wrote is for pub games, and most of us doesn't plays tournament doto
