The 7gb download you might be experiencing after copying your dota2beta folder is the new dota reborn if you have had it in the past. Even if you don't have it in the files you are sending it will try to download it. Here is how I get mine to work.

Do not start any dota download. None.

Copy your dota2beta folder to same place as all other guides.

Open steam application.

In windows/whatever go into your dota2beta folder, double click dota2.exe. You should see the valve video dude. What should happen next is steam should override the game and say "checking existing files" or something to this extent.

It should then begin a 7gb download anyway. While this is going (downloading, do not pause/whatever) go to the dota 2 game library page. Find the tick boxes that say DOTA2 premium DLC and DOTA 2 Reborn. Most likely the dlc will be ticked installed but the REBORN option will be greyed unticked.

Tick Reborn then untick it. You *should* see the download go from 0% to 99% with only seconds to go.

I tried all the other options which usually work for me with other games, I've also used the backup system and think it's bloody stupid. Most effort to get a game to go I've had to do.

Hope it helps!

IT HELPS IT HELPS! i backed up the latest dota2 and the appmanifest_570 file from another PC.
I moved it to another PC with dota2. I removed local content via steam. I click dota2 to install again. it had 6 gb still downloading. but i unclicked the dload premium content and whoosh it left 200 mb only! :D

0. CLEAR EVERY DOTA 2 FILE INCLUDING MANIFEST FILES (570 ones) AND CLEAR THE DOWNLOADING SECTION FROM DOTA 2 FILES (570 ones again)
1. Go to steam/common in your machine that has dota 2 installed
2. Copy "dota 2 beta" to the other machine's steam/common folder

FOLLOWING STEPS ARE IMPORTANT:

3. After copying open steam and try to install dota 2
4. Stupid steam will not register the files and start from %0
5. Pause the download
6. Go to downlods
7. Click the "X" on the right side of your paused dota download
8. Then continue the download

It should now register the files and continue from a point about %70 (some files are personal so it has to download it for every other steam account)

Enjoy.

You dont need to do nothing. Just copy the entire steam folder for the place you want. And next you open steam in that place and it works. Because when you copy the default location changes for the place where the copy is. Steam automatically find the "location default" and all the games you have on it. I did that several times. Just for dont install all the games again.

it doesn't work on my files.

i can't see the common folder instead i saw folder of (downloading/570/) inside steamapps...

now i don't know where to put my copied files from my friend.

PLEASE HELP.

First of delete or clear the current dota 2 folder from steamapp which should delete the 570 folder, and after that create a new folder as "Common" under steamapp folder and then paste the dota2beta inside the common folder now launch the game in steam and it should validate the game.
