The more I watch the video the more I think it looks like a courier. Allied units also have health bars and its much more common for a courier to be near its allied creeps than enemy creeps. If anything the running away from enemies just makes it act more like a courier would. If you saw it running back through a wave of creeps (and their health bars) in mid lane for example, it would be almost indistinguishable from a courier.
People act as if this one little detail will ruin things, I don't hear complaints about the decorative wildlife, and those things probably run on the same AI, to an extent.
Memorizing what it looks like isn't easy since there are a lot of grey four-legged couriers, at least two other dog ones I can think of off the top of my head.
The decorative wildlife can be turned off by people who do not want to see it, give the pet the same treatment and I would have no problem with it.
Who can afford blink-dagger at level 1? This entire post is ridiculous for a variety of reasons.
Do you need me to enumerate them?
Go ahead an enumerate them and tell us who can afford blink dagger at level 1 while you're at it.
I thought the guy who thought blink was targeted units was stupid, but at least he was smart enough to figure out there are abilties (QoP Blink, AM Blink, PotM Leap, Void Timewalk, Morphling Waveform, and more) that act like blinks. Hero abilities like those can be skilled at level 1! Are you ready for your first bot game?
the "problem" is fixed by haveing half a brain...
2) it relies on the player deciding that someone courier-ing something at to them at level 1 is a logical thing to do
3) it relies on the enemy player deciding that jumping on the courier and totally ignoring CM at level 1 is a good idea
4) as mentioned, it relies on the enemy to assume that a non-existent unit with no health-bar can be attacked
5) it applies to an almost ridiculously small subset of heroes
6) it assumes that a player will make the decision that getting a courier kill is worth their death, otherwise what would be the problem?
I might be able to come up with more stuff later on, but for the moment you comment is basically like complaining that because TB leaves fiery footprints wherever he goes, people won't chase him because they assume it's an ability that deals damage al la Batrider. In other words, it assumes that enemy players are total morons. Since I don't believe in catering the lowest common denominator, and anyone with half a brain will figure this out in the first 10 seconds and it will become a moot point.
"oh wait its just her pet lol"
Knowing she has the Arcana doesn't let you know whether the pet will be visible or not, she can toggle it on or off.
A courier kill gives your team more gold than a first blood in most cases (All 5 heroes in assist range might give as much gold). A courier kill if often worth your death especially if the enemy was planning on bottle crowing with it.
The unit is existent visually and could be close enough to units with health bars such that it appears it has a health bar.
The pool of heroes with Level 1 Blink-like abilties is large, QoP, AM, Morphling, Void, Mirana, Slark, Timbersaw, Puck, Sand King, Magnus, and Phoenix all have blink-like abilities that do not need to be targeted on a unit. (11 Heroes) Additionally, Phantom Assasin, Dark Seer, Weaver, and Windrunner have unit targeting blinks or a high speed dash that if used wisely can do the same things as a blink. Thats 15 heroes with abilties that can be used to jump/dash near to a courier for a kill.
TB leaves fiery footprints because he did that in DotA 1 in Warcraft 3, it's game changing mechanic and part of his hero since it lets you track him down more easily. It's more than cosmetic and unlike this pet you do not have to pay for it.
