How to add an existing Dota2 to Steam?
I already downloaded Dota2 but not using the current Steam.
Thank you!

This is the first discussion I have ever posted.

Check your steam local directory (something like Steam\steamapps\common). You can also check via the steam client - settings, downloads, steam library folders. Move dota to that location

If you have dota in the correct directory. When you attempt to download the game it should say something akin to discovering local files

Delete your .acf files when you do it. Those do nothing but keep the current status of downloads and what isn't downloaded in your library. If you do that, when you click on it, it'll find the files provided they're in the right place.

just add the dota 2 files to steam > steamapps > common. and then on steam you just go download dota 2. steam will identify the existing dota 2 files on your computer and will not download it instead verify that the files you just moved are dota 2 files.

How do you get dota 2 without using steam and why would you need to connect it to steam? Just download steam and download dota 2. It's a free download and it's not like you can lose anything. You would have had to have a steam account connected to it to buy stuff...
