Dota 2
Dota 2 - Premium DLC what is it?
Steam says that I have this Dota- Premium DLC installed, and says that it was added in 2013.

What is this? Could someone answer this question, because I have no idea!

It just means you have hats in your inventory and/or purchased something from the store.

I didn't purchase anything from the store. Actually, I have never bought anything via Steam, I am F2P.
Hats? Cosmetic, right? Not everything is hat, and I wouldn't say that anything I have is a "hat".

Hat is just a catch-all term to refer to cosmetics in general. Your profile shows that you have cosmetic items in your inventory. So the Premium DLC is just what allows the game to utilize the cosmetics.

I have not bought any item from the store, but I am also premium? Maybe because I got a courior from the steam market?

All right, then all of sudden I am a Premium Dota 2 because the system gave me items from random drops. Or maybe it is because they choose me to play the Beta ( I was chosen between 50.000 humans, Valve said).
So if you want to be a Premium just get a item from random drop :D

That guy bought something, do you see the difference?

Do you think it's because I got something from random drops or because I was lucky to be chosen between 50.000 to play the [Closed] Beta according to Valve, as they said in an e-mail they have sent to me years ago? Or because there were no "Premium" stuff in Dota 2 and it only applies to new players?

For me, it seems that anyone who gets an item from random drops gets this Dota 2 - Premium DLC , making it useless.

Well, considering that the game's folder is still called "dota 2 beta" well past the beta period I would take Valve's naming scheme with a grain of salt. During the beta period it was possible to buy some DLC (cosmetics) from the store page which would also immediately provide you with a key to access the beta. Therefore, it's likely that "Premium DLC" is from this period of time and has just stayed as such as the cosmetic and market systems grew.

Everyone keep saying about "buying things and stuff". I never bought anything, so if you say Dota 2 - Premium DLC has something to do about buying "hats" or "cosmetics" or "any stuff related to Dota 2", that makes no ... sense. It obviously has nothing to do with buying Dota 2 stuff, atleast for me it does not, I am F2P and I got all my Dota 2 stuff from Random Drops and random itens given when you level up in 2013 and 2014, and some of them I got from trading and announcing my itens in Dota 2 trade website (which is how I got my Rubick set, Nyx set, Invoker set, Keeper of the Light set, Necrolyte set).

I simply can't understand it yet. By the way, my friend downloaded this game this year and he does not have Dota 2 - Premium DLC installed.
So, for now, I'll just believe that I somehow installed this DLC without knowing because I began to play Dota 2 (FOR FREE) in 2013 and everyone who did that automatically installed Dota 2 - Premium DLC.
I'll wait and see if my friends gets this too, because 3 of them download Dota 2 this year. I'll see if they get Dota 2 - Premium DLC installed in their PC WITHOUT BUYING anything related to Dota 2. If they do not, it's because you need to buy something or be as lucky as me to have played when this didn't seem to exist (this didn't really seem to exist 2 years ago, when I used to play 70+ hours of Dota each 2 weeks).

It means that you can trade and get good drops.

Maybe ind ota it is the same.

It is to prevent farm bots.

No, it's not the same in Dota 2. I haven't ever bought anything.

Yes.
No. What about me? Yes for him, but me? All right, if you do not know, you do not need to try to answer. You've done this already, so thanks for trying to help me, your efforts were not in vain. They had some uses.

So, here, have my thanks. I'll know the truth someday, knowledge is power, by the way. RHYMES, powerful RHYMES.

If anyone has an answer that does not say "You have this DLC because you bought something", please, I will gladly read it.

And sorry if you didn't understand anything I wrote, because, if you didn't understand, I have much to learn about English.

The premium dlc is USELESS now. All it was before, during the closed beta, was a way to seperate those who could play games and those who were only able to spectate. It has nothing to do with buying items and currently it does absolutely nothing so don't worry about it.
