How exactly does Veil work?

2) Cast damage is first amplified, which then gets reduced by magic immunity?

3) Cast damage is first mitigated and the resulting damage amplified?

veil of discord just decreases magic resistance so all magic attacks get amplified. I'm not sure what you mean by cast damage.

everything you said made little to no sence. It has nothing to do with immunity
all heros accept meepo and visage have 25% magic resistance, a spell that does 100 magic damage only really does 75.
If you apply veil it increases magic damage by 25% meaning you lose 25% magic resistance, it makes you have 0 resistance, so your 100 damage nuke does 100 damage.

I'm interested in the exact mechanism because the above cases all produce different values. It's not like medallion because that item has a concrete value, so you just reduce armor by 6. Something based on % gives different values depending on when it's applied.

One of my favorite Items in the game. according to the way magic resist works, it reduces magic resist multipicatively. While I'm still in question of the mechanic, i do know that it reduces resistance to 6.25 percent. In short for most heroes, IT TURNS ALL MAGIC DAMAGE INTO NEARLY PURE DAMAGE!
