2. League can be run at any calculator.
3. Much more content creators, not just people who upload their gameplay.
4. Big and established Runterra universe, greatly written like LotR.
5. Advertisment and communication.
Dota 2 came in later and the playerbase mostly came from the old wc3 dota community and HoN. The community and game wasn't really new and fresh. Dota 2 also lost some crucial partners for localization of Dota 2, the company that was set to do the
localization in south korea dropped dota 2 and went with League of Legends instead.
Valve never really push their games as they dont need to, they got other franchises and services. Riot more or less only had LoL and it was important for that game to do well for them. Now Riot is just another game dev with multiple focuses and LoL is starting to suffer the same lack of attention from devs as Dota 2 is getting.
Also :
- Not as smurf infested as Dota
- Matchmaking in general is a lot more fair
- Doesn't have pause
- Doesn't have someone every game disconnecting non-stop
- Doesn't have games where you flat out lose due to 4v5
- You get a serious warning after ONE leave of a game and won't take you long to get banned
- Riot generally isn't afraid to ban accounts that hinder the community
- Does have Surrender
They don't tune their EOMM the same way Dota does it.
They rig matchs differently, and they are more successfull to please their customers.
Both rig matchs. Both are scam (it's not free at all).
But they do it differently.

Dota does less coddling of the player base and promotes rarely at all. The crowd on dota is more weathered and desire the challenge dota provides. You kinda want to want to be here sort of mindset. Gets popping for events but dota does not have a seasonal format or passes like winter and fall etc. More on taking money less on giving.
So freeloading kids hate spending and if they are going to waste hundreds of hours on a free to play might as well get something for the time spent deal. That's my take on it. Dota is older players, League is younger. Simple as that.
