Dota 2
We need yearly solo MMR reset
Also add separate party MMR that does not reset. The skill difference in my solo matches sometimes is insanely unbalanced.

So basically just making it so you can smurf legally at the start of every year.

Good plan.

Many games do that I do not see what's the issue.
this already happens if you dont play ranked for a while. Sooooo just dont play ranked for a while and your mmr will reset.

That's not true.

no ty
Party MMR is pointless unless you're with the same party all the time. Now, I'd be fine if Valve wanted to add some kind of casual "team" ranking so you could form a group if you play with a (relatively) small group of people all the time. But otherwise it's kind of pointless.

And I'm not sure why you think it's important that people's MMR resets- their skills haven't changed that much so what's the point?

Apart from not achieving much for the average dota player, the pros hated the mmr reset that they had previously as the game quality hit rock bottom for them until the better players incrased their mmr. Every immortal player got reset to 5000 and the difference in skill between immortals with numbers and without is noticable.

Yes, seasonal ranked gaming with a start from scratch is the measure to go for to avoid stagnation with all its downsides.

Yes it is.

MMR does not reset it stays hidden until you recalibrate it. You cannot recalibrate from like 0 to 5000.

i play a game call legends of runterra and they reset mmr after each season. it really sucks when this happens. its like the previous entire season never happened. not good at all.

No, when its recalibrating you have no mmr rating. its putting you in games and seeing how you perform vs other players.

And actually yes you can go from 0 to 5000. just like you could go from 5000 to 0. play like ass or take a bunch of pills and get stupid for life.

the forced re calibration should be done quarterly imho

i would also add the system needs to be more dynamic, if players are doing great for many games in a row they should be jumped up in mmr and vice versa if your playing very bad... this would protect against account buying and smurfing

the only thing the matchmaker should consider when making teams is trying to balance the mmr on both teams. anything else is just noise and causes distortions in mmr. the range of players the matchmaker uses should be increased as well, this would actually help the system be more accurate

Valve has claimed that their system already does this. Exactly HOW MUCH it does it is unknown, because Valve has always been cagey about the specifics, because they don't want people to try and exploit the system. Even just rumors can alter people's behavior- like when the rumor went around that the amount of damage you did during a match in calibration was important and a ton of people started spamming Zeus and using his ult instantly on cooldown.

I think Valve eventually released a statement that said, basically, "this rumor isn't true and even if it was we're just the system anyone for unrelated reasons we swear so stop it" and the weird zeus-spam died out.

But anyway, so Valve has to be very careful about what information they release.

Why are people so obsessed with mmr... I'm done with rank many years ago... Only play turbo now
