Dota 2
Can't find a match in own region (South Africa)
I can't seem to find a match in SA, EU is almost instant when searching SA I hit 70 minutes with no match. My B score is good 9223 with 120 hours ingame. My friends find matches easily and my one friend has around 60 hours and finding SA games but I can't. I've verified game files I've reinstalled both Steam and Dota 2 I've tried other internet connection but no luck. I contacted Valve but they haven't answered me in a 9 days so guessing no reply should be expected.
Does anyone know what I can do ?

You very sure the South Africa (SA) is your region? Please make a run of ping test and screenshot the pings here.

Thanks.
Hi MVP_ICE™ thanks for the reply, I live in SA 300KM away from the server in Cape Town and my friend that finds the servers lives like 500 meters away from me. I found something strange now though. I found a site that does the test called gameserverping.com and it shows unreachable but in Dota 2 it says 41ms.
Found a discussion post by Armedia which were fairly detailed, maybe that could help

Also, people queing on South African servers seem low, so guess finding with the same skill level, behaviour score, gamemode and language preference might be an issue

Also also, smash

Hi Nubbie, thanks for the reply. I checked out the threads and understand entirely, checked the settings and everything but mine and my friend's are the same yet they find games.
The longest they've waited for a game was 8 minutes. I can search solo at the same time they search solo and they both would find a game and I wouldn't,
https://imgur.com/vg3sXGx this was my longest que with every gamemode enabled.
All the SA Dota 2 players I've talked to tell me thats not right and they say something is wrong on my side but I can't seem to figure out what it is.
Also its worth mentioning that que went on for another 20 mins before I gave up and played EU.
Guess they have same skill level, que solo, behaviour score and good internet.

The only clue that can thing of that could be an issue is your short playtime in the game, many on Reddit/Steam discussion mentioned "smurf ques for players with short gametime/new accounts (Shadow pool)" but didn't find anything to pin-point it.

Some recommended seeing if New player mode have the same result.

New player mode works fine, I just tested another thing, I used my cousins account on my pc and found a match within 2 minutes. My cousin started playing a week ago. I've been playing for about 4 months. I don't get what exactly the problem is but I'm sure of it now that it's something with my profile/account. I don't understand why though... I've not AFK'd or been reported (except one time with a griever) but thats about it and if it was something like that then I would've atleast been able to play after my training matches but this has been a problem since the start. I read that you should play awhile before you can find better matches so I played up until now but still nothing. I just wish Valve would answer me because I think this is a mistake on their end.
Have no real good answer at all - Especially if it's only affecting one region(?!?)...
The only thing I can recommend is playing for longer and see if it gets better, in-case if you're in a 'special' smurf que (speculation) and wait for Steam support, hoping they have a good answer.

Maybe worth trying, only wild speculations:
* Do you have an associated phone number?
(Don't think that's the issue as it's for ranked but could be worth a try maybe)

* The next thing, which I also doubt, would be if you look at Your personal game data under Matches -> Match history, does it say "New player: Yes"?
That should just be for the gamemode "New player mode" but eh.

Tried looking at my own Dota 2 personal game data but didn't find anything which could indicate if your account is 'mark' for some reason, doesn't mean that it isn't however

Rewritten: See paragraph 1, have no real idea what could be the issue

You have friendly sharing, but your 3rd paragraph looks complicated :
Tried looking at my own Dota 2 personal game data but didn't find anything which could indicate if your account is 'mark' for some reason, doesn't mean that it isn't however
Please reconstruct or rewrite this for better understanding among the readers from different regions.

Thanks.

actually MVP_ICE I understood him clearly thank you :D. The problem is this is weird and I know a bunch of South African Dota 2 players and no one has ever heard of this problem. I mean the problem isn't a long que, I'd wait 10-15 mins if I had to and my friends would wait with me too but I waited as long as 90 mins with no match. So I can basically play on any region except my own. Tried another Steam account and everything works fine, within 2 minutes I find a match and we tried it 4 times it worked perfectly. So the problem is with my Steam account but I can't figure out what the problem is, contacted Valve directly with no reply its almost 2 months now. So I either have to create a new Steam account JUST for Dota 2 or play EU the rest of my Dota 2 life. Its a matter of playing on 200-220 ping or 20-40 ping... I'm calling out MAYDAY.
Don't have a good answer
Guess you can try changing "Download region" on Steam (speculation), it seem to be account specific like you mentioned

Either wait for Steam support and hope they have good news
Or compare the two accounts to see if you find something different :U

Thanks for all your help man !
Hope to find the answer...
Update on this situation. I did a few things, I removed he "-console" from my launch options, I switched to Vulkan, I checked all my Steam settings to be the same as my friends and magically I started finding matches !!! It started by waiting for 5 minutes to get a Questionable match two days ago. I played one but then we didn't find another one. Last night we tried again just to see if we could find a match again and BOOM match after match was found. Longest we waited was 3 minutes. I don't know what the root of the problem was but if anyone is experiencing this try those steps.
Happy Hunts Men & Ladies !!! :brawl:
Weird, good thing you got it solved!
