You play DOTA 2 with friends or alone?

I'm thinking about playing Dota and I wanna know how usually people play it. It's like league of legends, that is common to play alone, or here people tend to play together? Thanks :)

I play solo in ranked, play in "inhouse leagues" when I want to play with others.

I play solo. Lots of people in this forum will tell you that the trick is to queue up with people you know, but in my experience that always goes terribly. My friends are never as good as I am (with thousands of hours, no surprise there) and their game experience is always ruined by the person who's roughly as good as I am on the enemy team.

Balancing solo players can be difficult. Balancing groups of people at disparate skill levels seems impossible.

Best to be played with friends. But Dota2 in public matchmaking is not that hard core team game that you can‘t play it solo. It‘s solo friendly by design public matchmaking. Competitive Dota2 is for teams though.
