Where do items go when Inventory is full?

Hi,

So I recently started playing Dota 2 and doing the tutorial match. So I got a courier and I'm fighting in the lane and i have 6 items in my inventory. I buy items from the shop and get the courier to deliver them to me, However nothing appears as the inventory is full.

Also, what is the best course of action for this, do I drop items in favor of others? How will I know what to drop?

Lets say you want to buy Magic Wand, ingedients, 2 iron branch, 1 circlet, and 1 magic stick. The idea is to buy item by item until you complete the item. You may start with 2 iron branches, some tangos, clarity potion, if you buy shoes first and then circlet, now your inventory is full. The idea is to complete the Magic wand, then you free up 3 slots as they combine into one item.

Also, if your inventory is full, and you call a courier with another item(s) on it, then the items stay on the courier. Up to you how you clear inventory space, but usually best to sell one of your earliest/cheapest/weakest items. Every situation is different. Always plan ahead!

How do I know what items can be upgrade or what items are upgraded versions of items I currently own?

Just played three games vs bots and Kind of getting the hang of it.
