Dota 2

DX9 is still here, everyone! At least for some time.
Just replace -dx9 with -deprecated_dx9 and that's all. I tested it already and it works flawlessly. And i hope they won't be THAT stupid to remove it completely.

But you can't play on 32 bit systems any more. And it's OK - they too old for such software as Dota 2. 3 Gb RAM limit etc. You can't basically use them in everyday computing also. I tried this about 2 years ago for fun and failed. Talking about mid 2000's PC.

But i keep my 2009 PC still and i perform my work tasks on it and "media" tasks also. Have zero willing to replace or upgrade it till it works. It's weak 2 core Celeron BTW and GT 610 - not a gaming machine of any era. But i play Dota and some older games and want to keep this going at least for another 3 years. I expect no change in "media" technologies for even longer. I don't need any kind of beyond-human-perception audio and video. I'm educated enough not to be fooled with this. Also i don't need any top-tier graphics in 3rd person MOBA - it's just nonsense.

Had problems with forced DX11 last night just like others - i even abandoned couple of games cause of unplayable random freezing. No trace of that with DX9.

thank god they are removing old hardware support... this is a competitive game and lagging/disconnecting scrubs ruins so many games games

Question is - HOW old?

I have zero lags or disconnecting with my "old" PC. Because i have 100 Mb stable LAN not that trashy Wi-Fi. I suggest that any kind of single-core systems (32 bit basically) cannot stay and they removed now. I have one of the weakest consumer 2-core CPU's in history and it's still good! Just because 3-processor system (2 cores and GPU) is just enough for such software as Dota (youtube, insta, tik-tok etc which all arrived years after this hardware). But you can't run it on single core and associated GPU's - im surprised that someone even tried this according to forums.

So some good "old" (i use some computers from 70's and laugh at this basically) PC like any Core2Quad and some GTXXXX should be supported for another 5 years. Because if code is not total ♥♥♥♥ it's a power. Just believe me or not. And i suppose DX9 is still better for them. My PC can run 11 but it sucks. It's not just "rendering API" it's all far more complex.

Also i have literally approx 1000 open tabs in latest browser - is my PC "old"? I don't think so. I can't play top-tier games on it even the ones from the era but i don't want to. And Dota never was in that "pool" and never will be until some Third version.

But wait you can have such PC for nothing - isn't that the actual reason for money-hungry and eco-unfriendly corporations to perform that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ actions? I'm sure that is and it's disgusting. Just along with all kinds of "planned degradation" and change-your-phone-twice-a-year ♥♥♥♥.

Ty, so we can run dota with that command?
qwerty Nov 16, 2021 @ 11:48am
Yes we can and should! And it's just official info from patch release - but who even read it? I just tested if it was some kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ "emulation" but seems it's true DX9 still. At least works just as fine.

But no way for 32 bit again - they truly TOO weak for such software. At least till no "special" mode implemented. I see zero reasons why someone can play on 15-20 years old PC and not buy that paid in-game items. If it's all about it.

Also it have zero deal with server load/loading times etc. It's not THAT ♥♥♥♥-coded. Can't believe it at least. You can't restrict bad connections/unserviced PC's if they even powerful etc. No "potato" is a problem for anyone till anyone wants another gazillions of money faulty way.

Also i want to state that i'm ready to pay some small subscribition fee - i don't need any in-game items. 1-3$/month will be ok and will cover all possible "developer (skill) problems" keeping active player amounts in mind (schoolboys will keep buying Arcanas along with cup-of-coffee subscribition of course). I want to continue playing with my "potato" and i'm ready to pay for this. I don't need new PC i like my one. Also i treat Dota as "browser game" and don't want any kind of "gaming PC" for it. This is the reason why DX9 is still here in late 2021 and its not wrong at all. Game itself is such for decades now.

They should create a performance and network test as entry level for this game.
Having players in the game who crashing while the match begins to get into the match after they already received low prio is not really fun.

yeah I agree, having mass reports isnt great either and you still get blamed for "purposely" abandoning the game

Use comand on parametros: -deprecated_dx9
qwerty Nov 16, 2021 @ 1:18pm
I hope they will carefully track not only forum feedback but real amount of "-deprecated_dx9" users. Maybe that's the only reason they don't remove DX9 completely for now. And i'm sure not only old PC users have problems with DX11 - it all started years ago with WR Arcana update. As i can remember prior to that update i played on DX11 and zero starting pars on same PC from 2009. So some "talented" coder changed something that time.

Vulcan can be the solution but my GPU don't support it so i can't test it.
