Why is there not a surrender option?
Like, are you serious? What MOBA in 2023 doesn't have a surrender option? Since most games are one-sided steamrolls anyway, why does the game absolutely demand you waste a full hour of your time in pointless matches? That's completely ridiculous.

Because SURRANDER options is detrimental to the game, and you get a higher quality of games and players when it's made sure that they have certain degree of credibility and responsibility for their actions.

Because surrender is for babies and losers. If the enemy can throw, then the game is winnable (which is 99.9% of games).

A couple of years-months back dota added the functionality of giving up matches, you achieve this by getting all of teammates to agree into leaving the match without disconnecting. Unfortunately, the playerbase is filled with human scum and mentally disabled people, so, managing into making everyone agree to leave the match at the same time is virtually impossible.

Just try to make the best out of the worst scenario, learn roles and fill spaces; if you feel like most of the times you're getting paired with clowns, pick versatile heroes that are able to rotate through the jungle while being able to deal dmg, disable, initiate, nuke, zone control, etc.

Always report toxic "people"

War and chess are all about who throws harder. Dota is no different. If 2 players played perfect chess, then it would always be a draw......guess what doesn't happen all the time in chess (hint *draw*). Lack of skills/knowledge/disciple is no different than throwing.

Same applies to dota. Same applies to war. Same applies to life. Same applies to football. Same applies to basketball. Maybe you will figure that out 1 day.

Intentional throwing is different from unintentional throwing. Every lost dota game is at least due to unintentional throwing. Many are lost with intentional throwing though too.

There is no such thing as a "perfect" dota match because it would still be played while I was typing this and every match that I know of has been completed within 24hrs. So....100% unintentional throws. 100% potential mmr to gain. Surrender = 100% chance to lose mmr.

You're wasting a full hour whether you win or lose. Just enjoy the game for what it is. Pointless fun.

Because everything in this s*** hole of a game is made to support unemployed no life losers. When you are happy to waste countless of hours of your lifetime, you are the exact definition of a loser. So not being able to surrender in completely useless games is just in line with the typical Dota 2 "player". Perfect demographic design.

From a metrics standpoint: No better retention measure to a no life loser audience. Don't give them the opportunity to fix themselves and get a job. They have to stay in Dota as much as possible so that they remain losers and keep feeding the scam.

It also helps fan boys to convince themselves that Dota 2 is better than LOL. No surrender option : we can afford it because we are the best. Lol. Numbers say all.

Dota 2 gameplay and matchmaking generating emergent come back mechanics? Lol x10. This only applies to pro games, don't follow the fan boys who try to sell what is a complete scam for normal users as a perfect game.

Matchmaking is not rigged. lol x100. A few of my colleagues just died instantly.
15 years matchmaking systems are rigged. For 15 years myself along with hundred of designers we have been building rigged matchmaking systems to optimise retention and therefore revenue. It's not "rigged" from a legal standpoint. But from a Game Theory standpoint? It's not even rigged, Dota 2 just doesn't match with the definition of a GAME.

We have been designing ADDICTIONS disguised in games for at least 15 years people. And we are very good at it. And it's completely legal. Wake up.
