why do nearly all female characters are dressed like hentai characters?
EDIT: do not respond to this thread, the arguement is concluded and some moron just necro'd it.

apart from completly degrading and objectfying them, it also makes no damn logic.

crystal maden lives in icerak where there's basically snow 24/7 why the hell all she wears is a cape a bikini?

traxes in a ranger, so shouldn't she wear, you know... armor? rangers don't suvive very long in forests full of hostile wildlife and monsters with just a babydoll and boots.

the only character her ♥♥♥♥iness is reasonble is QoP since she's a succubus and all her lines consist of sexual inuendos...

but really, come on valve, all your previous female characters were so well done and so interesting, why did you try mimicking LoL's horrible character design?

how can anyone take warriors seriously when they just have tiny pieces of cloth for protection?

Ok. Many of you people claim that eople over sexuliase things in games. Only a few games do this. There are games that do this, yes, but there is much more that trea woman respectfully.

I'd disagree with that. There are a heck of a lot of games out there where all the major female characters are either in a stereotypical role (damnsel in distress, cliched love interest for the male protagonist, healer who's rubbish at combat, etc.) or are designed to titallate the audience.

I don't have a problem with a bit of fan service, but it can get a bit annoying when it appears in so many games and on so many characters in each game, especially if it doesn't fit well with the character and setting. It's like if someone said "Young men love sports. Therefore, 80% of male videogame characters will now be sports-themed", and then they dressed all the male characters up in baseball uniforms and so on (Keeper of the Light will now wear a football helmet and pads, because that's totally appropriate for a skinny old wizard, right?).
Is that neccesarily the developer's fault? Sure, there is some fault but it is how society and humanity has developed. We have all heard the fairy tale of the prince and the princess. We all heard this. It is years upon years upon years of development of this stigma. You cannot change the way society is. It is just how we have grown as a species.

Plus, alot of my games have woman in a fighting force (Halo, Universe at war, Assasins' Creed etc.) and occasionaly better than the men.

Relevant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wnTunPrQJo AAA Publishers know that the main audience for their games are men so they actually go out of their way to push female characters (especially as main characters) out of the industry. It's happened with games like Remember Me where the devs had to fight tooth and nail to keep the protagonist as a woman.

Just a point to consider.

Hot, big-boobied tempresses appeal to men.

Big, muscled barbarians also appeal to men. The idea of what manliness looks like.

If you want to see sexualized male characters appealing to women, look at Japanese video games. The effiminate, long haired "beautiful" males in those games are the counterpart. Not Axe.

In other words, invoker ?

Its one of the cheap ways to attract gamers.

Thank god we male gamers don't have to go through the same problems as female gamers.

Imagine if every male char was dressed in sexy male underwear with little bits of armor.

Would feel very awkward XD.

I feel like you just described Anti Mage (Yoskreth Set)

Not only have you missed the point of my comment, half of your examples aren't even relevant.

1. I never claimed games with female characters didn't exist. Maybe if you actually watched the video you'd understand what the point was.
2. There's a MASSIVE difference between games that give you a set character like Tomb Raider, and ones that give you a mold like Mass Effect.
3. Even your best examples don't make the examples I've given suddenly dissapear. I've yet to hear an example where the publishers forced the dev to have a female lead rather than a male.

Wasn't going by the video, just by your post. And in the context of what you said, it is all relevant and they let you play as female char and that is the argument (if there ever was an argument to begin with) and the point, regardless of whether the character is pre designed or not.

As for the video, no time to watch some random guy say random things.

Feminist jimmies gettin' rustled. I hope you never go to the beach. You won't believe it, but women like to wear these things called bikinis.

If you honesly can't see the difference between a single character (or even a set of pre-made characters) that the player MUST play as and a mold that the player can turn into anything they want, I can't explain it to you.

Honestly I rather see a badass woman character, with strong personality and backstory (like Elizabeth from BSI burial at sea DLC) then yes, I rather play a woman than a man if the story Is fun and deep enough.
Shallow females characters is somthing I can't stand.

As I said, My 2 top female characters a Luger from Killzone 1 and Elizabeth from Bioshock infinite (I like the DLC version of her better though)

That is irrelevant if you can choose the gender/sex is it not ?
