Dota 2's female heroes are all fine, QoP's the biggest offender, but like you said it's reasonable since she's a Succubus. the second biggest offender (imo) is Luna for the skintight suit and posture. everyone else? eh, they're not even "bad", all of this is relatively tame.

Its not logical for women to have somewhat light armor because its not enough protection, even when the point IS FOR IT TO HAVE MOBILITY. but its logical for men to where absolutly no armor that gives 0 protection whatsoever JUST because they are barbarians. There's NOTHING wrong with female characters looking sexy. Sometimes you want to play as a rock goddess and screw reality.

The problem comes when playing as a bikini-armor chick becomes the ONLY option. When you have to choose between looking like a stripper or looking like a prostitute, that's where the problem is.

And frankly I think Dota 2 has done a fantastic job of giving people options. Want to play as a walking boob dispencer? Play as QoP. Want to play as a decently dressed badass? Play as LC. You can even play as female characters who can in no way be accussed of being pieces of sex meat (i.e. BM and Spectre)

Male characters are not OBJECTIFIED, they're IDEALIZED: They are heroes the target audience wants to BE, not something they want to OWN. They want to BE a ripped guy being a complete badass, while they want to HAVE a walking sex-toy running around them.

Yes, it's a problem how men are portrayed, but it's not the SAME problem. Similar, yes, but not the same.

I'd disagree with that. There are a heck of a lot of games out there where all the major female characters are either in a stereotypical role (damnsel in distress, cliched love interest for the male protagonist, healer who's rubbish at combat, etc.) or are designed to titallate the audience.

I don't have a problem with a bit of fan service, but it can get a bit annoying when it appears in so many games and on so many characters in each game, especially if it doesn't fit well with the character and setting. It's like if someone said "Young men love sports. Therefore, 80% of male videogame characters will now be sports-themed", and then they dressed all the male characters up in baseball uniforms and so on (Keeper of the Light will now wear a football helmet and pads, because that's totally appropriate for a skinny old wizard, right?).
