How can I make my own MOBA?
I think I've had a revolutionary idea that will attract non-MOBA players such as myself into the genre. The way I see it, there are those who play complex strategy games (which are still pick up and play) such as Chess - they require INTELLIGENCE. There are those who play games which require fast reactions and good hand-eye co-ordination as well as tactics (e.g. Street Fighter) - they require DEXTERITY. Then there are games that require you to read a book - they require NO SKILL. I want to make a MOBA that only requries the first two but with no barriers to entry like DOTA. Where can I start? Any mod tools for DOTA 2? Thanks.

Dude there isn't a mod tool to make games like Dota 2, mod tools only modifiy the existing product. To create a game you will require an entire development team. Computer engineers, database managers, software designers and alot of more specialized people. Creating a game requires dozen of software combined into one game it's not just a mod that can do that. Also it costs thousands of dollars just to make a small game with few missions, creating a moba will require millions.

Well yeah I know, that's why I want to just experiment with a few ideas using an existing game.

dota 2 has no creation tool, so if you want to try something, then Warcraft 3 is your best choice, it has a map editor, so you can create your own maps and everything, thats how Dota 1 was born.

Ah ok thanks. Can I change the game mechanics too? Or is it just maps?

even if you got your team and cash, valve will sue ur ass for copying dota
so be a bit more original like 'defend the castle online' and make it more medieval
