dota 2 main icon change
how can i change my dota 2 main icon even when its running. so that when the game will run it wil show the icon i chose. so that i can minimize dota 2 and pretend iam not playing:P

I how to change to shortcut picture on your desktop, but i dont think you can change what the computer will display no the bottom when it is running.

Why would you want to change the icon in the first place?

So your family or someone mad at you cuz you play too much? I don't think you can do that, even if you change the shortcut icon the executable will remain the same. If you want to change the icon of the .exe, hmm i don't think that would be a nice idea, or even possible :)

I think this icon is in source code, so any changes would call wrath of VAC system.
P.S. unless the devs will make it an open source.

VAC and or a dota 2 open source is more likely than Half life 3 being released honestly lmao

Hey,

I recalled that every game uses an icon file, so I wondered a bit through my steam files and here is a solution I came up with.

Just go to the folder in which you installed steam and go to the following location: steam/steamapps/common/dota2beta/game/dota/resourse (or go to the search bar and type "icon"). You need to find a file named "game-icon.bmp" and replace it with whichever icon you want. You can download a png image, with no backgroud, and change its extension to bmp (Photoshop will do the work). You need to remember that the file extension must be .bmp or else it won't work.

I hope it helps.

P.S: Do not pin dota2 to the taskbar or else the icon displayed will be the original one. Unpin the game and the icon you choose will be displayed.
