Double tap key to turn on and off orb affects
I have a suggestion for Dota 2 and wondered if other people thought this was a good idea or not. I would really like it if I could turn on or off orb affects, like drow rangers frost arrows, huskars burning spears or outworld devours arcane orb by double tapping the appropriate key it is set to. For instance Q for drow ranger and od or w for huskar. Just like when you double tap to self cast.

I prefer to have it off towards the early game because of mana restrictions but in the heat of a fight i would prefer to be able to just double tap to turn it on instead of having to right click the ability or the method I usually have to use of alternating between pressing the skill key and left clicking the target.

Could Valvee add this feature please!

What does everybody else think?

If you hit alt+the key it will turn on auto cast.

Quoted for truth.

Alt+Q turns on auto cast for frost arrows.

I didn't know this I will try it. I still would prefer to be able to double tap

Double clicking Q is quicker than ALT+Q, but if you are orb walking you don't want this since you can spam the Q key so fast that if you miss a left click you will turn on autocast instead so IMO double click to turn on or off auto cast can never happen.
Why would you need that if there already disable/enable auto-cast hotkey? alt+q

You can also right-click an ability for the same effect.

Idk, I feel like using ALT+Q is much faster than double clicking

also double clicking may cause issues since double clicking is "self cast" like bloodseeker casting his silence on himself, so how would the system tell them apart?

Quite easily as they will use different skill buttons. I don't know of any orb abilities than can be self cast so I don't think this will be an issue. Also if people don't want it that's fine, all I'm saying is why can't there be an option in settings to turn it on and off just like self cast ability

While it's possible they could add an option for double tap turning a skill on auto, it would be a huge disadvantage to any players using it.

Oftentime with attack modifiers it's better to leave them off and manually cast them. Not only to save mana, but because the AI and properties of targeting are different when manually casting an attack modifier than when just leaving it on auto. Meaning your going to need to press the spell key a bunch of times and having it auto toggle by accident would really suck for the user.

Hitting Alt+Q is faster than double tapping because you only need to push down once on the keyboard, you don't need to lift your hand to press the key again.

the thing is....Alt+Q is one of my item slot. i'm not willing to give it up.
if i may i suggest, {1 key to enable & disable all/any auto-cast spell}

double tapping would be bad for advanced plays (namely, orb walking) since you might accidentally miss an orb.

interesting tidbit: if you turn your orb on, and attack a hero it is considered attacking and will draw tower aggro, while you turn it off and use hotkey+ click, then it is considered casting and will not draw aggro (but will give a wand charge)
