Anti-mage ultimate
Hello guys, I have a question regarding AM's ultimate.

Now this is the first time im playing with him and i was practicing against bots.
I still dont get how to use his ultimate.
I know the other hero or heroes must have low mana, only then will AM do damage with his ulti,
but i noticed that my ultimate didn't do enuff damage.

For example, Huskar had almost 0 mana, n i performed my ultimate on him, i think it was second level, n it only did a minor damage to him...

I've seen videos on youtube with anti-mage even getting a rampage just by using his ultimate..
so im guessing I dont know how to use his ulti properly.

Can anyone explain...
Thank you.

Anti mage's ult is magical damage, Huskar has a lot of magic resistance
Anti's ult is magical. Huskar had berserker's blood which causes pretty much all magical damage to be nulled. Its basically a AOE Necrophos ult for mana.

Also, Huskar is a Strenght hero, that means he doesn't have much intelect. Try to ult Intelligence heroes when you have eaten their mana.

Just because a hero has 0 mana, doesn't necessarily mean that Antimage's ulti would kill them.

This is because Antimage's ultimate's damage is dependent on the 'amount' of mana missing, rather than percentage of missing mana.

Meaning 25% missing mana from a well fed storm spirit would do more damage compared to 100% missing mana from a hero like Sven. More mana you burn from a hero with a very large mana pool, your ultimate would be that much more effective.

And about huskar, he is magic immune when his health is low, antimage's ultimate would perhaps never kill him. But your right clicks will.

Anti mage is only really good against nukers who don't have ways of keeping their mana up on their own. Huskar is a strength hero with lots of magic resistance (and anti's ult is magic damage so the damage would just be reduced) so his mana pool would be very very low. Say he has lost all of his mana yet his mana pool is only 200. So he is missing 200 mana and your ult will deal about half of that as damage and then the damage would be reduced. That's why it did so little. BTW if the enemy has an outworld devourer or keeper of the light on the enemy team then picking antimage is a very good idea because they have ways of catching their team up to you after a blink and can keep people's mana up easily at all points of the game, or if the enemy doesn't have a lot of high mana nukers then I wouldn't pick him because anti is reliant on high mana pools to deal his damage early game.
First off, huskar has high magic immunity due to berserkers blood. The lower huskar's hp, the more resistance. Also AM's ulti is magical, not physical (and he said he cast magic aside when he uses magic, the irony).

Also, it is not if they have low mana, it is how much mana they are missing. If a str hero is missing 90% mana and a int hero has 90% mana missing, that means they are both relatively low on mana, true. However, the int hero is probably missing a lot more mana in numerical value since naturally, the int hero should have a bigger mana pool to begin with.

Example: 10% of 400 mana is only missing 360 mana, which won't do a lot of damage. However something like a 1500 mana pool seen on many hard supports that go full int, generally nukers like lina and skywraith and od, will have much more mana missing from that if they have 10% left, more to the tune of 1350 mana missing from their mana pool. That is gonna do a lot more damage.

:d2bloodseeker: <-- don't target these guys

Target all the int heros when they have low mana. All nearby enemies will take just as much damage.

any hero that has a high mana rate can be killed with it, INT heroes. IT depends on how low there mana is, E.g voker on o mana= team kill ez win

oh now i see... So AM's ulti is pretty much effective only against intel heroes....
Thank you very much for the clarification people. I appreciate that alot.

So now my question is, if I want to play carry, and the other team doesn't have many intel heroes, AM would be a bad choice? RIght?

Again thank you everyone who responded to my query regarding AM's ulti

Not necessarily. AM's power doesn't come from his ultimate. Sure, it's a good one and you can get lucky rampages... But AM's strength is his farming speed. If you get a quick battlefury, he's among the fastest farmers in the game (thanks to his low base attack time). Then, thanks to his blink and magic resist, he is very hard to kill, making him one of the safest farmers in the game.
So what you do is you get battlefury, and start flashfarming creepwaves up to the tower, striking the tower until it's no longer safe and blink out. Repeat until all towers are down.
The only way AM can reliably win in a fight is if he has been outfarming the enemy carry. In the lategame when both carries have the same amount of farm, AM loses most of the time.

husk has a low mana pool and a lot of magic resistance. you'd be better off focusing the mana-dependant heroes. he's an anti-mage after all.
