How to Fix Dota 2 FPS Drops/Stutters?
Hi everybody,

Since reborn came I have big problems with stuters or just fps drops

Before reborn I had around 110-120 fps steady in big fights maybe 60-80

Now Im normally runing at 90-120 it dances from 90-120 its never steady and feels overall choppy also in big fights it can drop to nearly 45-50 which looks like it was slowing down..

What Ive read from internet I see there are a lot of people that has this problem, so how do you fix it??

I have GTX 970, i7, 16gb ram, asus rog g-sync enabled ,v-sync disabled, and playing at 2560x1440 res everything at max

So I is there any way to fix "this"??

In your Steam downloads section, is there a Dota 2 update that doesn't seem to ever finish? I think it's related to the fps fluctuation somehow.

I had your issue and so I disabled Dota 2's DLC in my library and reinstalled Dota 2. That seems to have fixed it for me.

try this: with nvidia inspector app set fps limit in driver dota 2 profile close to ur monitor rate, then launch game w/ -dx11 param in exclusive fullscreen mode and use fps_max "0" in dota config - in-game limiter very choppy on fast cards (if 200-300 fps wo limit), also since ur are using gsync, disable triple buffering setting.mat_triplebuffered "0". still some effects will cause abnormal fps, they messed it with update 2 or 3 weeks ago or so, before that reborn was much faster it used 12-23% cpu vs 30-48 now. I beleive they'll fix it in upcoming patches - fps drop problem does exist and confirmed

what gtx 970 are you using?? are you using STRIX??

Im using Asus GTX 970 Strix

I have AMD 8350 Vishera 4.02GHZ 8 CORE
GTX 970 4GB
8GB RAM

I have crazy FPS drops too if I disable vsync it goes up to 120fps and 60 fps drops on teamfights but there are heaps of screen tearing.

Reason why you have fps drop is not in dota client but in nvidia driver on win 10. You have to wait for driver update, but I tought that this problem has just 600 and 700 series. You can fix it but not solve for this time. Turn off triple buffering, v-sync, g-sync and set power mode on prefer max power. Everything in nvidia driver, 3D settings, global settings. It will fix fps between 30-50.
Hope for fast solution same as me xD

Edit:
I read somewhere that downgrade of driver can help but have no idea if it works and which versions.
