Dota 2
Item Idea. Rod of Atos Upgrade
Rod of Atos, as we know, slows down targets. And I think it'd be cool if this good item can get an upgrade.

Atos Upgrade: Slows targets and disables them from turning.
Recipe cost: 800
Duration: 5
Cast Range: 800

So how does this impact the game? Why is it worth getting?

1. Would work well for heroes which benefit from targeting the back/sides.
2. Would be very good agaisnt heroes taking less damage from the back/sides.
3. Good against some escapes which require you to face the direction you wanna jump to.
4. Can be good in synch or against Force Staff.
5. Good for securing skillshots like hook/arrow/torrent.
6. Would synch well with linear skills like Macropyre/Wall of Replica.
7. Would be good for trapping enemies trying to escape obstructions like IceShards/Fissure.
8. Works well against skills which require the caster to face a certain direction, Raze/IceWall.

I'm sure there are other uses I haven't really thought of yet. But this community is creative so I'm certain, there will be more uses.
So how does this idea get to devs?lol

P.S.
I'm very open for criticisms.

wait are you saying they cant turn around ?? thats OP indeed maybe slow turn rate instant
5 sec without being able to turn?!?!?! That's insane and would destroy pretty much all heroes (at least IO wouldn't mind too much). I think something more like 50% turn rate slow scalling to 0% over the 5 sec would be better and even then the price would have to go up IMO.

For the devs to see your idea go to reddit/the dev forums/play dota forums.

Yeah I first thought of that. But I think (not sure though) Rod Of Atos does a bit of that already.

Yeah I think the turn disable made it too OP. When I thought of this, I honestly thought a turn slow was underpowered. But looks like I'm so wrong. XD

The thing is you could use it on an enemy facing you and they couldn't run away for 5 sec unless they had a dispel of some sort, at least if it's a partial slow people can turn slowely then run away. Even blinking requires you to face the right direction.

I haven't really thought of this one. Now this one looks like a flaw.
How about turn rate is relative to how close the caster is? 50% slow max (closest). +12% every 200 units closes to target?
like the idea of the 50% slowly lowering over 5seconds turn rate thing, could call it Warp Rod or Rod of Chronomancy. would rather see it get upgraded by adding an orb of venom+point booster

Yeah that sounds more balanced but I can't think of another mechanic that works like that so I think you have a better chance of getting the item in if it acts a bit more inkeeping with the game as it stands.
I'm curious. Is there any reason why would one go for Atos over Eul or Scythe for a disable? I personally never felt Atos was useful, so enlighten me.

high intel demanding hero's like Silencer or Sky would go for one or one with a high impact DoT like venomancer. since you don't wanna Eul someone who's taking heavy DoT damage and Scythe has a longer CD + costs more

^this plus Rod gives some nice health.

for it's price anyways, a better investment in most cases would be vyse but in some cases (like i said before) are times Atos is a better choice, especially if you have a bat trying to melt people in flames but lasso is on cd

I think decreasing cast range to 300 would be the solution to that certain flaw.
This way, it can no longer be abused by casting it on an enemy so he can't turn back from an ambush. 300 range is small enough to give the enemy enough time to assess that he is being ganked.

Yeah I also thought recipe alone would be lame. And it'd be a lot more cooler if it's using an item instead. Specially an item which doesn't have lots of upgrades like yes, your suggestion Orb of Venom.
It would have to be very short duration or it would be super OP. 3 seconds tops.
