Remove Reports

Reports, are supposedly for three reasons: communication/ability/feeding.
But let's get practical, there is no administrative review over reports. Reports work through a simple voting system. If you get enough reports, you get dropped from Matchmaking and get sent to low-priority.

If you play just a few games of Dota 2, you will see that your team members will constantly threaten to report you for a variety things, most commonly (I can't verify whether these people actually reported me, but some people did:

-during the hero pick stage, they will say they will report you if you pick or don't pick certain heroes. For example try saying you will pick techies. Most games your team will say, no we will report you don't pick it.
-during laning. if your team doesn't approve of your lane, they will often say we will report you if you don't jungle, or you can't lane with me I will report you
-THE OTHER TEAM CAN REPORT YOU: the other team can threaten to report you if you do certain things. There is no incentive at all for the other team to report you for actual bad conduct
-item choice. I got a Eul's on Medusa, after which my entire team stated they reported me.

I challenge administrators and Dev's to actually play some ranked Dota 2, and see how often people state they will report other players for intentional feeding that is NOT intentional feeding. In fact, go solo Q and pick techies. See how many people on your team tell you they are reporting you BEFORE the 0 minute mark is reached!

Personally, I've never intentionally fed, and I've never abandoned a single game. Yet I've been in low priority about 4 times in just one month of returning to dota. It's silly and I am not playing anymore Dota 2 because of this.

Really the only sensible solution is to remove reports, and simple allow MMR to do its job. People who are bad will end up with lower MMR, and people who are good will be higher MMR. This will naturally filter the team players from the team destroyers without people reporting people for whatever reason they feel like.

i have not be send to lp for being reported (i got some abandones) u must be doing something that keep ppl reporting you u should note that 9 reports in one game are counted as 1

Never been sent to LP from reports only twice from when my internet was crappy. Also never muted and I've had arguments in games before so it seems not to punish people out of the blue.

Maybe you just got unlucky because many people have said that in their 2k+ hrs of dota that they don't get punished so it's more likely to be you or your bad luck.

Dota devs don't read here so a message to them is wasted on this forum.

Coz I never been to low p for reports and I never been to low p for any reasons yet with this acc

You might just be lucky with your dice roll. do you play solo ranked (pub) ?? I've only been to lp a few twice since 2012, but I've been muted a few times and I can tell you its a griefer tool.. if people dislike your name, the hero you pick, if you challange them on a position, tactic or are support and they need someone to blame they will use report for it.. What we need is a proper system. This could be a simple vote kick where 9 people have to vote yes in order to kick and the game will end (no punishment) or a system where you "again" need atleast 4 people to vote yes and it will be reviewed. If it holds up the person gets banned 2 months (yes harsh punishments) if not the 4 others get punished 4 months. then it will only be true griefers that get to low prio (in this case just banned)

But well its hard and it will take some resourcces to do.. Also remember that mute bans should not even be there!!! its a silly punishment. why ? well because you can just mute players..

I hate when I play my pub (solo ranked) with people that a muted.. we can't communicate and that ruins my exprience as well.. not just the guy muted and due to the system he might not even be a bad guy.


So lets face it.. Only two realistic ways to do something about this.

1. play with 4 friends in team mmr or league games only (or practice for that sake)
2. Save your reports and report anyone that reports you... thats what people do anyway.

You two know that you don't go to low prio from 1 abandoned game right? its morel ike if you abandon 3 out of 10 matches.. or are reported in 3 out of 10 matches and then abandon.

So it might have been due to reports as well.. you can't know for sure.

I notice "with this acc" thats another problem with dota.. all the new accounts that get created just to get a silly random mmr rating on solo that does not show anything....

I say let all new players be able to play ranked right aweay but start at 1.5k

Then nobody will make new accounts anymore

I've never been a victim of a crime.. I guess there is no real crime...

You see what I mean? just because we didnt or did not get into lp maybe times does not mean there is not a problem.

i play solo ranked a lot i got lots of threat from flamers never been in lp never muted same as the 2 above u might be flaming a little im telling you some small words can heart some ppl

When I say crappy internet I mean 15kb/s so I dropped out a lot and I got many abandons. Yeah it could of been reports but realisticly it was abandons.

Also don't you get a message saying you get reported a lot when going to LP due to reports? That's what I gather from what people have said and I don't recall getting that message.

That being said it is a real problem and you have to agree that the system is fully automated nad in the hands of the players..

Ie. if you play and report a guy that runs into tower and suicide and he reports you. then you have both the same amount of reports and if you get reported a few more times in the next 10-20 games you risk getting into low.. even if you didnt do anything but report the griefer... since again.. its an automated system. It trust that you are truthful.. How many do you think are truthful ?

Been to low priority 4 times in 1 month. Just from excessive reports. My point is the general game experience is, don't pick this hero we will report you. Or please report X hero on my team, if you do I will commend you if you report him.

Dota should be about playing Dota. Not making politics. I agree making a team of 5 is best solution, but not everyone has time to sit around and make 5 man q's.

I'm out though, guess that's what Steam wants, a strict voting system that expels people, so whatever. Peace

I am simply saying that just because you didnt get inlo lp while being innocent does not mean OP didnt. Thats the real discussion not if you have been to low or not

Ranked will be in ruin.... That why valve remove the level booster system. Coz during Ti 3 or 4 a lot of new players level up so quickly and join ranked. At that time ranked is truly hell even above 4k. I created this acc 1 years ago to teach some player how to play Dota. I use this acc now because I think I need to improve myself and try to learn everything from basic and change my play style. I am former 3 k scrub.
