What counters Doom?

(Dotabuff says Earth Spirit, but I really don't get that).

I'd say wraith king or illusions heroes. Late game WK's ult has a shorter cooldown than doom and will proc regardless of being doomed. Plus he's super tanky and his damage is in his auto attacks by that point. With illusions heroes doom won't know who to doom. He is especially bad against phantom lancer because PL will drain his pathetic mana pool very quickly.

I'd say anyone with a good disable/silence such as Shaman, while he's a sheep just co-ordinate stuns and shackles and Doom wont have a chance to cast his ult and that annoying lvl?death

doom only "counters" everyone because of his ult. you can get likens to make his life harder. heroes with high physical damage are usually ideal to fight him.

Heroes that don't rely heavily on escapes to survive. Heroes that have already casted their spells before Doom Dooms them. Heroes that have armor reduction and physical damage.

Meepo. CK. etc.

maybe heroes who initiate with silences, too, since they can take doom out before the ult.

How to counter doom, an idiots guide for noobs.
1) WK because of his ult
2) Medusa because her toggled abilities stay active meaning most of the doom damage goes to her mana
3) Good linkens users will make his life hell
4) Illusion heroes because it is nearly impossible to determine which one is real
5) Understanding how to deny an allied hero
6) Not picking the hero that needs spells to do anything (unless your an initiator)

feel free to check dotabuff or gain some sense of game and hero mechanics before opening your mouth.

im sure YOU dont counter doom when you play meepo. you probably dont micro right. but he's a hero that

-hits hard with his right-click (so doom doesnt totally shut him down)
-can operate ok with one of his guys silenced (so doom wasted an ult)
-typically builds disables (so doom cant regen his way out of stuff)

If doom dooms meepo meepo will be ok, and can still kill and survive. if doom doesnt doom meepo then meepo kills doom faster.

and on top of that dotabuff lists him as the 2nd biggest counter to doom this week. he's there often, both before and after this patch. so yes. doom is countered by meepo.

now do you have something to back up your statement? at all?

Thanks for the advice everyone, but why does Dotabuff say that statistically Earth Spirit is the hardest counter? What's so special about ES?

easiest counter is meepo 1vs1 he stands no chance, ES has stun,silence,nuke :D

being able to pull allies back and push doom away maybe? or the silence, i guess

Durable people, from experience. This means guys like Abbadon and WK are very important.
He has VERY low mana and agility. AM and Lion will take care of Doom early on.
Earth spirit's silence and damage is why he counters Doom.
