Dota 2 Ultrawide Resolution support - 3440 × 1440
Hi all

So I know I cannot be the only person experiencing issues with Ultra wide resolution support on Reborn, I was hoping that this would be fixed with the new engine on reborn, but the character portrait seems unusually large, and cuts off the sides, it seems that the Dota engine just does not support 34" ultra wide, which is somewhat disappointing considering inferior MOBA's like LOL, and Smite support this resolution straight off the bat with no HUD problems at all.

The dashboard is also out of position on the lobby screen where the chat windows do not line up correctly.

Anyone else experiencing this issue on Ultra Wide, or know about a possible fix?

Thanks

No you are not the only one. There are like 3 other people making this kinda post once in a while for the last 3-4 years (e.g. http://steamcommunity.com/app/570/discussions/0/617336568064662155 ). Like most thing/suggestion/pleas, the devs have ignored this topic and haven't made a single comment about it.

I don't know how much effort/time it would take to implement something like this and it also depends on how you implement this. You could just leave the rendering and HUD like it is for 16:9 and leave the sides unrendered to use for permanently open scoreboard and shop. That way there's no competetive advantage for 21:9 monitors.

Anyway, it probably doesn't matter either way. These monitors are still less than 1% of all used monitors according to the steam hardware survey. So by implementing 21:9 support, it's not like Valve would be appealing to a huge majority of players.

You can always try making a post about it on dev.dota2.com, and suggest changes or added support there. But as long as 16:9 is the standard for video gaming, I doubt Valve has any incentive to add 21:9 support. Maybe this changes in a few years if these ultrawide monitors gain a lot more popularity, who knows...

Well, how many people actually play on ultrawide? 1%? So they might know about it but definitely it is not on top of their priority list.

In 3440 × 1440 playing this game in such kind of resolution is in my opinion a bit pointless. You will never ever see more details
nor there is benefit for gameing and watching entertainment stuff . The only benefityou have is,when you are going to working with space intensive programmes....
This kind of resolution is build for cinema theatres or advertisement outdoor displays. And on the other hand you are getting more problems with everything.
Because most the software developer, especially game dev´s have not a focus on this kind of resolution. Okay this not a solution for your Problem, it is only
a thought about the electro industry what the are like to sell us ..... ;-)

It's about enabling the optimal resolution that your monitor supports. Playing the game on a lower res makes everything look out of proportion. I just don't understand how inferior MOBA games like Smite, LOL, HON, HOTS all support this straight out of the box, but DOTA doesn't.
