Sniper is broken?

I was playing and my whole team was dominated by sniper, he was sitting in the trees, killing us. Late game, he was killing us while we were in fountain with his range capabilities while taking no damage. Your thoughts on sniper?

The Sniper is super stompy in lower tier play (aka newer players), as they don't really know how to deal with him.
He has incredible range and can just fire at you from the other side of the lane.

However, early in the game he literally has 0 damage, so the best way to counter a Sniper is to constantly engage onto him, you are almost guaranteed to have more damage than him, so you should win the trade unless he poked you low before you engaged.
You just have to keep ontop of him, don't let him use his range to his advantage.

Late game if he isn't fed, he can be semi-ignored.... However if he does get fed, he can become a big pain in the backside.
If you have the gold invest into an item that lets you dislodge his ultimate, will mean he gets alot less kills.

Pfft he is not op. He is made of paper just hit him a few times... If he gets shadow ward, buy some dust. I imagine that's why he dominated you no one bothered to counter him. A lot of heroes are super powerful AND hard to kill if you let them farm. Just gank him early game and he will be easy. Slark on the other hand since his ulti became undetectable he is op.

Easiest hero to counter.
Practically every other hero destroys him but he is most afraid of heroes that can close the gap.
E.g Pudge,Tusk,Anti-Mage,QoP,Morphling etc
Also Sniper absolutely hates burst damage so heroes like Lion,Lina or a simple dagon will make quick work of him.
And last but not least since he is so slow and has to remain stationary most of the time invisible heroes are also one of his many counters. Especially Riki and Nyx.

As for items Sniper hates blademails. Like a lot.
Blink Daggers and Dagons too for the reasons mentioned above.
Also if you are a support and find yourself dying/getting mininstunned too much get a ghost scepter.
Now as far as am aware BKB does nothing against him ( doesn't prevent the stun ) so that's a bad pickup unless the enemy has some serious magical damage.

you have 35 hours on dota, but i will humor you. played a game where i was mid as abaddon vs sniper, he dominated the lane but as soon as i hit level 7 i kept killing him... hes really not worth playing at higher mmr games unless you are really familiar with him.

sniper with a pro player is epicly good, know the items and get good last hits and hes hard to counter, his range is his greatest asset.

My thoughts: there is a reason why sniper is nearly never picked in tournaments. Which is: he got no escape abilities whatsoever, dies easily, and doesn't have any real teamfight ability.

There's your answer. Nobody knew how to counter him let alone how to play the game.

Tip: In the future? Don't make threads like this until you're a little more out of the trench. You will eventually learn there is no "broken" or "OP", there are only weak players.
