If you're on the same team, if you have Dota plus, you can avoid the players.
And if you want to play multiple games the same day, waiting some minutes before searching again will make it less likely to join the same people.
Parties of 4 need a solo guy and only finding solo players would take longer time, so the basic answer is que time and convenience.
You can be strict in finding solo, but you cannot avoid the formation of party if you want to join MM system.
