It's titled SO YOU WANT TO PLAY DOTA 2? and is within the same General Discussions baord. Wrote it for OP but it applies to anyone really.
1) Honestly just play whatever role inspire you. Watch some content that shows you how to play that role and if you're intrigued you try it if not just search for another role. As a top/jungle main I now play Pos 1 (more or less ADC but cooler) and 5 (more or less League support but way cooler).
2) Any 1 complexity hero is pretty basic and help in fundamentals of the game but again, pick heroes that you find cool, it doesn't matter much.
Good luck ✌️
Stun -> RIGHT WHEN CASK HITS THEM -> Maledict using the tip of the circle. This will let it land easily a lot of the time and give you HUGE range.
If you have this basic bit down (maledict the second the cask hits with the tip of the circle) the hero becomes very fun to play.
After that, throw a blood grenade and try to get even 2-3 hits in.
To stay alive during this make sure you arent tanking creeps who drew aggro from your attack. Faerie fire can help you stay alive while you get hits from maledict in.
Keep in mind!! Maledict level 2 is basically a ULTIMATE with how insanely strong it is.
With a teammate who does a nuke (Zeus lightning bolt is great example), one maledict and enemy is prob toast.
This hero also needs very few items and can be itemized many ways.
Boots of travel is about all you need other than maybe 1 or 2 bracers.
And get that SHARD (Voodoo Switcheroo) ASAP!!!
Once you live the dream and voodoo switcheroo inside of an enemy black hole (to counter it), you know youve made it as a WD :D
I agree people aren't fully mad when losing a turbo as much as when they loose a ranked game, but they aren't playing without any reason... Usually they want to do some quest, some 'thing', and to win.
People losing 3, or more games in a row because nobody cares will likely start to complain..
I recommend that new players, after completing the tutorial and some Co-Op mode (bot) matches, play support. Pick a hero like Warlock, Shadow Shaman, Lion, maybe Omniknight, etc.
I'm not saying this because support is necessarily easier- a good support can totally set the pace of the match through the mid and late-game. And they need to do most of what makes them good has to be done WITHOUT all the farm that a core/carry gets.
But overall I think they are better for learning the game. They can lean back a little and watch the game more than a carry can, who tend to have to be hyper-focused on last-hitting.
