Dota 2
What position as a beginner?
I come from LoL and want to give Dota a chance, I have about 20 hrs into the game (over the course of 2 years lol). Tried mid lane but kinda got beaten up, is support more viable to get a footing into the game and if so what heroes would u recc?

You dont want to play this game at all tbh, the players you will encounter will have you questioning how the human race ever developed past neanderthal.

it is easier to hide your mistakes as pos 5, if that's what's your asking, bug if it's not - i suggest you to understand what kind of gameplay styles you like the most, maybe watch some youtube tutorials which role responsible of what in dota 2, then choose, it is better to choose two roles, one core and one support to be move versatile

My initial question was what pos would be good for a newbie to dota to pick up?

Pos 4 and Pos 5 so basically both supports. Thats how I learned the game somewhat. Midlane plays the same as in League for the most part but you have to learn the match ups here as well. Pos 1 is game ruining if you fall behind so that one leave for when you understand the game more. Pos 3 aka bruiser/toplaner is also pretty good, but if you fail at your job of preventing enemy Pos 1 from scaling then you can also ruin the game pretty easily.

And that comes from someone who plays both League and Dota but started with the former.

Pick a support role if you enjoy it or core similar to league but you can try all the heroes and just learn their roles if you enjoy the hero, if ppl grief or troll you cause you are new or you make mistakes, just mute them and keep playing and learning

POS AI. just play with bot until you get the idea, and watch others play.

On all fours.
play vs unfair bots you should be able to win vs them at least and watch "tutorial/guide" videos on some heroes you might like playing

depends on what position you played or rather enjoyed playing in league, its more about character than lane

i would recomend bristleback(aspect should stay seeing red) , bkb counters silver if someone trys to counter you, bristleback strong early, mid and late game, a true 1man army in the right hands, can go any lane for core position, kinda easy and fun to play

my last turbo -> 0 match mid player died 6 times and disconnected after 5 minutes without coming back

I guess mid is maybe not the best choice if you play your first matches

You know - you may not put yourself in this "pos1 pos2 posX" way of thinking.
These positions are merely the guidelines - not strict rules.
So, do what you enjoy the most - between leading and supporting.
Supporting is, IMHO, easier to learn the basics.

As for heroes - you should totally pick visually appealing ones! I wish they could publish a robotic skins for all the SPIRITS (void, earth, ember) eh!:))
