As for his advantages, all I've managed to figure out is he's really good at killing towers in dragon form. And I'm guessing he's also good against physical damage dealers since he gets armor from his passive and can reduce attack damage with his q. He's also fairly tankish and has a good early-game stun. But as for disadvantages? I don't know other than the fact that he's melee. And he doesn't seem to have that great of damage, but that's a recurring problem I'm having with all the heroes. That game I built BKB on him, I think as my second item. First item was a bracer or something like that, and of course treads (strength), after that I can't remember. though I was thinking of going for more items with high strength bonuses to improve both my tankiness and my damage simultaneously.
Few major things i will tell you .
If you see PL 100% you need to have sven or ES on your team to make life ez.
For example if you see slark you might want to have BS .
For example you have magic hereos you probably want to pick AM
Lets say you have AM you want to pick SB .
IMO those are the major counters.
Since you only have 31 hours i wouldnt worry about this . Learn to last hit well , learn to use the map , learn to call missing and using wards , smoke ,deward. you much to learn lolo. i still know nothing and i am close to 1700 hours loll .
Dragon Knight "counters" sniper and drow because he is hard to kill and can walk / blink / shadowblade next to them and kill them early game. But late game, if you allow sniper or drow to become really farmed, your spell + attack combo can no longer kill them, but their damage + pseudo-disables will kill you from beyond your attack range.
A far stronger counter to sniper and drow would be spectre (because you can appear next to them with your ult and kill them with radiance + desolate) or spirit breaker (because you can charge them, chain stun them, and kill).
As for viper losing lane to lich, lich reduces your attack speed (so you can't kill him fast enough) and deals magical damage. To counter this on viper, build a wand (to heal based off of the number of times Lich uses spells) and maximize your third skill (magic resistance) first. Remeber that Lich's ult does more damage the more targets are near you and Lich isn't afraid to sacrifice himself to use it (because it will continue to deal damage after he dies). In this sense, Lich counters viper (because you don't have instant burst damage), but you shouldn't lose lane or die too easily to his ult either.
Vs magic damage dealer, you need hp, bkb, linken for bkb piercing spell, blade mail, cloak,
Vs illusion hero, you need hp, mjol/mael, critical cleave
