Is turbo the main game mode now?

If turbo is the most played game type, does that mean normal dota is actually turbo?

Many players play turbo exclusively becase they don't want to farm an upgraded boot for 40 minutes or wait 2 minutes for a courier to deliver items.

Yes and no, turbo is played more but that is because matches only last half as long compared to normal matches, so if one finished 1 normal match someone else finished 2 turbo matches.

Yes and yes. Firstly, turbo matches are not half as long, but rather one and a half times shorter. Secondly, turbo matches account for not half of all games, but 75%. In any case, the most playing time is spent in Turbo.

After turbo playing normal is like playing on sedatives in slow motion. But it not "just 2 times faster", it has its own meta because many heroes that are viable in normal are not viable in turbo, many strategies are abused, the fast leveling and insane kill exp make fighting non stop the main farming tool, and the most fun aspect of the mode.
You gain lots of gold in fights fast means you can very quickly adapt to the situation, itemizing and selling/buying items you need without much worry. That also means that any error is more punishing. Most players ive talked to say they play for tokens. I play turbo for fun, It has all the Dota mechanics, but its fast enough not to feel like a waste of time.

Turbo is a different meta too than the normal game. Its more energetic and exciting. The Normal (non-ranked) all pick queues are dead. Even ranked match making can take awhile to get a match. I wonder if they will start trying to slowly start consolidate the two game modes to make balancing and patching simplified.
