Dota 2
I do not understand Sven's "gain damage with strength" facet.
So... I'm a Sven main. My favorite hero, love the guy, pick him without rhyme or reason to fulfill whatever role was left on the map.
What the hell is this facet?! What is it for?! Like, i sort of understand the idea, but...

So... Okay. My man gains +3.2 STR every level.
So in rough translation that's + 1.2 / 1.6 / 1.9 / 2.2 damage per level (rounded).
By the time you reach level 12 you gain back 22 damage.
By the time you reach level 18 you gain back 39 damage.
Okay. Basically you make your character actively worse for the first... 12?... 14?... levels in the hope that anyone will allow you to farm in peace for that time and then... What?
Because let me remind you: those 25 damage they take away is BASE damage, a.k.a. damage used for your ultimate. So your ultimates are actually actively worse too.

Now, yes - this is not accounting for items. But what items?! There are not that many items that grant crazy amounts of strength. And Sven doesn't make most of them.
Okay, let me imagine something... Uh... You're level 12, you managed to secure yourself a Bracer, PTs and maybe an Echo Sabre... That's 6 + 10 + 15 for total of 31 strength.
31 x 0.6 equals +18 damage. Combine with 22 from levels... You now have +40 damage. You gained back 15 damage of what you lost. Pffft.
Uh... Okay, how about... how about a Mordigan? 6 + 10 + 25... 41...
24 combine with 22... 46. Oh wow, i got whole +6 extra damage from that.

I don't... This is sh*t, lads.
Okay, how about level 30? Taken straight from the game's testing chamber.
Normal Sven: no ult 166, with ult 547
Gimped Sven: no ult 231, with ult 555
Now, that's no items of course but like... That's nothing. This facet doesn't seem to actually increase your damage output, what it seems to actually be doing is making your ult a semi-passive ability so that you are not as useless when you don't have the ult available. But that doesn't really help either! You'd still not risk a close teamfight without your ult and the passive damage doesn't seem that great either at that stage of the game. When does this actually help? Farming? Bonus damage doesn't even kick in until level 12, and that's assuming you've secured 20 strength worth of items.

This is on top of the fact that i always believed that a big selling point of Sven is that he's not one of those crazy "farm all game" carries, but someone who can put up an early fight instead and try securing advantage that way, and "Heavy Plate" helps with that far better.
So what the hell is this facet??? I just don't get it.

I think this thing needs either a buff or a replacement.
Maybe -20 starting damage with 0.4 / 0.6 / 0.8 / 1.0 values would work far better at what this thing was trying to achieve, or at the every least would look more enticing, because until then "Heavy Plate" seems to be just a win-win choice for me.

strength comes from items too!

Sure, but what high Strength items Svens usually build?
They always build their Assault Cuirasses and Deadalusi... Which provide no strength at all.
Power Threads provide humble 10, and you are trading a very usefull speed / pursuit utility of phases for it, which is a risky trade.
BKB provides 10, you're definitely making that at some point... But what else?
Satanic, i guess? No one ever makes Sange or H.o.Tarasque. Uh... That strength dagger thing?

I don't know. I guess you could try making it work by going Sabre and then buying ALL of the items that use Reaver as a base, but that's assuming:
A) You can survive / farm for that long;
B) People won't start flaming you by going off-meta on Pos1.
Not something i care about in unranked, i'll happily try it at some point, but so far my experimentations got me nowhere - i have like 3 loses with that perk and i just fail to notice a positive change, all i notice is that last hitting in early laning stage f*cking sucks and then 12-18 levels play EXACTLY the same a normal Sven. Its so weird.
I'll try making Mordigan next time, for sh*ts and giggles, see if that does something. Works without ult too.

WoG give extra attack from Str. So you scale up much better.

Your starting attack is 63 vs 48 (38+10) at level 1. Every level, your attack increase by 3.2 with Heavy Plate, verse 4.4 per level with WoG (3.2 * 1.4 all the way til lv6). Long story short, you break even at around lv9 without any items.

HP WoG Wrath of God STR Factor
+str 3.2 Damage 3.2 25 Factor
1 63 48 38 25 0.4
2 66.2 52.48 41.2 28.2 0.4
3 69.4 56.96 44.4 31.4 0.4
4 72.6 61.44 47.6 34.6 0.4
5 75.8 65.92 50.8 37.8 0.4
6 79 74.5 54 41 0.5
7 82.2 79.3 57.2 44.2 0.5
8 85.4 84.1 60.4 47.4 0.5
9 88.6 88.9 63.6 50.6 0.5
10 91.8 93.7 66.8 53.8 0.5
11 95 98.5 70 57 0.5
12 98.2 103.3 73.2 60.2 0.5
13 101.4 114.44 76.4 63.4 0.6
14 104.6 119.56 79.6 66.6 0.6
15 107.8 124.68 82.8 69.8 0.6
16 111 129.8 86 73 0.6
17 114.2 134.92 89.2 76.2 0.6
18 117.4 147.98 92.4 79.4 0.7
19 120.6 153.42 95.6 82.6 0.7
20 123.8 158.86 98.8 85.8 0.7
21 127 164.3 102 89 0.7
22 130.2 169.74 105.2 92.2 0.7
23 133.4 175.18 108.4 95.4 0.7
24 136.6 180.62 111.6 98.6 0.7
25 139.8 186.06 114.8 101.8 0.7
26 143 191.5 118 105 0.7
27 146.2 196.94 121.2 108.2 0.7
28 149.4 202.38 124.4 111.4 0.7
29 152.6 207.82 127.6 114.6 0.7
30 155.8 213.26 130.8 117.8 0.7
(this table didn't account for the +2 attribute at 7 levels)

Without items, your final attack is 155 with Heavy Plate and 236 (144+92) with WoG.

Even at lv1, 2 bracers are going to be bring your attack to 68 (48+20). which is about where you start. Overall, you might have a disadvantage for the first 5 level, but should be able to catch up soon enough.

Having higher attack without ult and same with ult and no item is pretty good.

If you don't build a lot of items for strength - here is your incentive to do this.

Sange and yasha, power blink, satanik, power threads, bkb, aghanim. Every item gives you strenght.

F*ckin' love building SaY, but I feel people will crucify me for it as pos1.
