try running a map (from console) and check if the screen is showing.

take the dota2 cd rom out of your drive and try to blow the dust off of it.this mostly helps when having read errors with old discs.

Valve is doing all sorts of stuff to prevent players gain MMR. This game is sheer nonsense. It's cheating players time to have the urge to keep playing, chasing the MMR. Dota 2 is the biggest scam in human history, bigger than the Ponzi scheme
