What's with the rats thing?
Before the VG vs Newbee game there was a short video of the Alliance members talking about something and while the video was being played the twitch chat was full of "RATS", "RAT BOYS" and other rat related insults.

Now, since I don't follow the Dota 2 scene that often, can anyone explain why did this happen? Is it because the chat was full of russian dogs who were butthurt over Alliance's win in TI3 over Navi or just random ♥♥♥♥♥♥bags randomly insulting them?

Rat dota its when some hero called Naturea Profit takes rax during a teamfight.

It's basicly objective dota taking out towers and split pushing.
Natures prophet, Wisp & Tiny, Lone druid, Naga siren and other strong pushing heros.

It's a fine strategy. As an observer though, most poeple find it boring to watch so it gets a lot of hate. They would rather see team fights than people attacking buildings and avoiding fights,

Alliance, while they did not invent rat, fnatic did, Perfected "Rat doto"- the strategy of avoiding of teamfights to split push and gank lone heroes, usually involving a Lycan, Nature's Profit, Wisp, or Naga. It's how you beat Na'Vi, so all the fanboys dislike anyone who uses rat. So Alliance is hated particularly, for they are great at ratting.

Why do people do that? The whole chat literally spammed "RATS" and other insulting ♥♥♥♥ during the video. I don't think Alliance enjoys being called rats, so this is maximum disrespect and childish behavior.

A lot of rat games end up in team wipes and straight down the middle or base races which are pretty damn entertaining. It's just the filler they don't really like.

AdmiralBullDog takes pride in being a rat. Alliance doesn't care if they enjoy being called rats or not. They won TI3 and a huge portion of tournaments prior to that.

It's not really offensive in dota. Plenty of teams even the players call it rat dota and it's not just alliance which will resort to this play style.
And if you take Twitch chat to heart then you shouldn't be on the internet.

Well I doubt "RAT BOYS", "SAD BOYS", "SAD RATS" is not offensive and insulting. How many people really hate Alliance, seriously, the chat was literally filled with that.

But then again, it's filled with macros of ♥♥♥♥♥ and Adolphus Hitler.

Twitch chat is just garbage anyways. It's a joke to them and they spam it. And everyone knows jokes only get better after they the get told the 10 000th time.

They don't hate Alliance. It's just a playstyle they hate. Everyone that watches Lans is aware of this and it's not just alliance which uses this playstyle. RAT is a replacement for Objective in the dota scene. Almost everyone in the pro scene calls it rat Pros,Casters you name it.

It's probably just pub-trashtier being pissy over rat dota.

One of the pros has a sword called 'R[A]TSLAYER' or something, so that's funny. Forgot who, though.

It's pretty much because of how Alliance played vs Navi in TI4.. their every game was almost an hour, with the rat strategy..

Kind of, understandable why people didn't like it.. something a team would do when they are cornered and know that they can't win a teamfight.. If you seen todays games, Newbee used their picks and timing to actually be agressive, force teamfights and push a lane taking up to two towers from a single lane push.. pretty much, game control.. compared to that, rat would be avoiding the fight or taking control, to take down base and force the enemy to curl up defending it
