'Keys won't work' bug

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. Very occasionally, when I play Dota, my keys will not work properly. It will take me anywhere from 1-5 key presses for the button to respond. This makes uses abilities and items an absolute pain and quite a gamble to see if I ever do get to use them.

I know it's just Dota 2 because I can type this perfectly well and every other game just works fine. But for whatever reason like once every 20-30 games, my keys will stop working. Restarting the game won't work, I have no idea what it is.

Sometimes I have to mash buttons for them to go off, sometime on the 5th press my blink dagger will trigger, but since I was mashing it I teleport back to base instead of going in the right direction.

Funny thing is my mouse will work fine, so I can move around and right click away, but just my keys become a lottery. Sometimes they work on one press, others it can take up to 5, or 3, or 2, or 4. It's completely random.

Please someone tell me what is wrong.

It happens when you get a spike. I always pause then tick and untick the legacy keys in settings (because i use legacy keys). I once lost a game because of this when I was playing invoker and I couldn't get the spells off on clash!

A connection spike? Because this lasted the entire game...

Yep, happens to me when i get a connection spike. You should re-do your control keys if that happens. Or maybe check your mouse configuration or mouse profile. They might be programmed to work differently or maybe macro'ed. When I forget to change the mouse profile when playing dota2, the mouse works like ♥♥♥♥ (because other profiles are for FPS games).

I tried reseting my controls, doesn't help I'm afraid. Buttons are sporatic about wanting to work. Only thing I have left to do is reinstall but I'd rather not. It makes playing miserable as I can't use my abilities when I need to and I just have to pray that my team carries me.

All my mouse keys and whatnot work fine, but it's just the keys. Idk what is going on with dota 2 but it's seriously frustrating.

Guys has anyone had this bug AND know a fix for it? Steam support was unhelpful and I can't play Dota until this works again. I've tried reinstalling, nothing helped.

it might be cause you are running programs in the background that you get lags.

This situation also happens to me several times and I saw that people have the same problem! People on this forum tell's already that Icarus dive of Phoenix often didn't stopped in right moment and I had the same thing in game. Binded blink button also do not want to respond in right moment somewhy.

Thanks for the replys, I'll try to see if I have any background programs that could be messing with it, although I don't think that's the problem.

It's only Dota 2, all my other games don't have an issue so it's very confusing. Will keep updating as I learn more.

Looked around and I've read that any programs which protect against 'key logger' bugs can interfere. I've done a full registry cleaner and that did not help. Still lookoing for answers. Would love to play again.
