Dota 2

I'm a new player & I'm struggling
I've never played Dota 2 before but few days ago I decided to give it a chance. After installing I completed the tutorial/guide and went into "New Player Mode". It's alright but I disliked the limited pool of characters, and the fact that my teammates tend to walk around aimlessly. That's why I decided to try playing "real" game. I went into unranked all-pick - and I immediatelly lost all joy of playing this game :steamfacepalm: It's too difficult. I get obliterated in seconds whenever an enemy sees me. I'm having a hard time dealing any damage and surviving encounters with enemy players. They always seem to be faster, stronger & more resistant than me. In-game tutorials haven't prepared me for this mess, YouTube tutorials also aren't helpful - I don't know what to do, and I'm thinking of quitting Dota 2 for good.

also: for speed: boots only give you 40-50 speed or so (not counting the travel boots), but items like Eul's Scepter, items with Yasha, drum of endurance, and others + neutral items can boost your total speed.
also2: a lot of items and skills does Slow debuff. You would need dispels or bkb or stuff like staff push or magic resist status resist, to negate/counter the slow if not cancel it.

Hey dont be discouraged in playing. We all experienced that. My tip for you is to select the most comfortable hero you know for now, and select an up to date guide (probably use ImmortalFaith and Tortelini's). Be positive always in game. Dota 2 has a steep learning curve. Learn your mistakes after the game. Before trying to play a game, view some pro matches in the live games, take notes on how pros play. That's where I prepare myself mentally before playing a match. You'll be fine later on. Dont quit!

There's a learning curve, your beginning won't be easy but it will get better once you understand mechanics, different hero skills and develop map awareness.

play against bots until you're comfortable using spells with the heroes you like, buying items, and using courier. this game is worth the learning curve. there's nothing else like it

the only way they can be stronger is by xp gain and gold (aquiring items faster) + knowing their hero and most heroes and dota2 better but that's another thing.

To not slowdown your xp gain you must keep in range of dying creep/neutrals and heroes.
To get gold you need Last Hits (everything) or assists on heroes kills.
Collectively: taking towers & buildings grants team xp/gold (even if you are dead and creeps take down buildings)

To get xp and gold you need to keep alive and close to action.
The best way to do that is team play and knowing the things I said (always seek xp gain).

Some heroes/roles need the gold as much as the xp gain. but not all.

Ward/sentries shadow blade and invis. you are a pray and easy target when exposed unaware by yourselves.

Best of luck, and any one having a bad day vs uber pumped veterans feels like a complete noob.
