You need to make sure your HDD/SSD performs alright.
Try this trick:
1. Copy(not move, copy) your Dota folder to a same folder(it should appear besides the original one, but with a slightly different name).
2. Remove the old Dota folder.
3. Rename your copied Dota folder back to the original name.
If there are damaged read/write sectors on your storage device, that trick should move the Dota files away from them UNLESS there are many of them all over it. It MIGHT help, but absolutely no guarantees. If that helps, then it means you need to replace your storage device ASAP.
Search for invalid or corrupted files in start menu, only God know's how to play dota w/o issues after those last damn updates.
I noticed, though, that if I click «Verify integrity of game files», then there's a fraction of a second when the button highlights «Play» instead of loading icon with Validating-Updating statuses. If I'm quick enough, I can start the game. This hack helps, a little... But it's a weird way to start a game.
