Dota 2
Is Earth Spirit worth learning?
I almost never see him picked in any of my games, and I play a lot of Dota. No idea what my MMR is but those few times I've seen ES picked that player knows what they're doing and can wreck their opponents quite easily - even to the point of soloing farmed carries.

Yes...Earth Spirit is harder then Invoker......when you good at it is easy to win mid game.

If you're in a skill group where Earth Spirit smurfs are able to solo farmed carries, it's probably not worth it.

Pick easy-to-play, meta heroes like Outworld Devourer, Drow Ranger, Juggernaut, and possibly Pudge for easy wins.

ES is the highest skill cap hero in the game and if you can put in the games to learn him then it's worth it.

He asking the question should learning certain heroes worth it...not asking what heroes to learn to fit the meta.

The idea of players followings meta nonstop that make this game bored with less variety.

And then there a post where everything is OP when everyone using them.

Earth Spirit has been picked a lot more lately. He is no more in the freeze tier with Elder Titan. Elder still remains the same. Batrider got worse. I bet you never saw one or two Batrider(s) in your last 50 games.

Earth Spirit is incredible and isn't nearly as hard to play as you'd think. Since his introduction he's basically just gotten nerfs slowly until he was allowed in captains mode. They actually reworked how his skills work a bit to make it easier to play him.

That said, he's still an awesome character that can be a total nightmare in pubs. Definitely worth learning if you're interested in playing him. A good Earth Spirit player is always a welcome teammate.
ES yes )) nice hero , but hard to learn how need to play correct with him. I just understood after 90 games on ES.
It's mostly just experience, it really comes down to his spells: Forward Rock (Stun), Roll (Init/Escape), and Pull Rock (Silence). Ult is pretty simple, you can also use some spells on actual units and not just the stones so keep that in mind. Not an ES player but he's not that hard to play, just hard to master.

Yeah, I'm answering that non-meta heroes such as Earth Spirit aren't worth learning. Since OP seemed to be more interested in wrecking scrubs and winning games than playing a variety of heroes and having fun, I gave him a little piece of advice to not pick dogsh*t heroes.

I agree that such mindset makes the game less exciting, but, you know, this game has already been ruined by Valve when they began to f*ck with the game balance and mechanics.

And I don't get why people are complaining about OP heroes. The key to victory is picking OP sh*t. It's the only legit way of winning this game, and they should begin picking such heroes, too.

That's true, but OP mentioned in his post that he saw Earth Spirit can destroy some 2k sh*tters and even rival the strength of farmed carries.

Lol Invoker was an easy win for experienced players also. It's too bad another great MMR booster has fallen, but there are still broken stuff out there like PL, OD, Jug, and Slark. Soooo I'm not sure why they're complaining so much because they nerfed one hero.

Yes!!! Yes he is. With over 1200 games of Earth Spirit in 3 different accounts I can assure you that he is one the best heroes to learn mainly because of his utility and a skillset that synergises extremely well. He is also good for grinding mmr, I myself have went to 4.4k using only ES.

He's pretty broken if the player of Phantom Lancer is at about the same skill level as his opponents. The only true counter to PL I can think of is Ember Spirit, which is also great for boosting MMR at the hands of a competent player.
