Here is my take on it:

Good luck.
I mean that you expect "the same kind of game" but their is so much things that differ that switching from one to another is a pain.
The matchmaking and the community is the same "kind" except their is no behavior score in riot, and hardly any ban for afk / ragequitting. Meaning that finishing a game with 10 players is like a miracle, especialy in the first hundreds of game. (it's better a t higher ranks).
Also, lol have Nunu.
Nunu good, nunu roll on people. Nunu is Nunu, eat nunu.
Thanks for polite answer. I focus mostly on matchmaker to have good and fun gaming experience - mean close games. No only mega throws from my or opposite team.
The matchmaker itself is relatively similar to dota, unranked is a mess, with basicaly no rules. You can have a 5 stack with 4k hours in one side and a 2+3 stack with less than 100 hours, no problem.
In ranked, you have a similar mmr AND a similar team stacking. (so it's ever fair in that regard)
Runes have been tweaked few years ago so account age by itself is less impacting in ranked, but you may have to spend money (or play a lot) to unlock heroes (called champions in lol).
It's technicaly not a matchmaking thing, but, fact is even in ranked, if you have 20 champions to choose from, and enemies have 70, they do have more chance to win (better pick / ban possibilities), and the matchmaking didn't at all take that into account.
I haven't played since like 2 years so it may have changed, but their is also no way to chose your role BEFORE you go in character pick.
So it was basicaly "to the one that spawn his role first in chat" and if someone is faster? either war or ragequit, or "deal with it and play a role you don't like / don't know".
It have pros and c ons i guess as it force to be effective in most roles :')
cann someone fixx these stalkers please ,,...
So a little bit pay to win at start. I do not mind spending money. I already spent tone on skins in Dota - I know silly. The main point is experience. I love Mobas in general - I call them modern Chess. My main expectation is good game experience not constant frustration from rigged matchmaker. Just pure skill.
Ages ago I was playing Strife - unfortunatelly this game died but was really fun to play, a bit like Dota Turbo - smaller map, less heroes and games didn't last longer than 30 minutes. I miss this game so much :/
honestly as it's f2p the only advice i can tell is "try by yourself" the game isn't that big to dl anyway, and you can rapidly see if you like it.
Matchmaking have really not a lot of differences from dota, i don't think it's better, or worst.
Only things is; no behavior score, with all things that it's implying, and the fact the early game is a little impalanced untill you unlock a lot of champions.
Otherwise the ranking seme globaly fair.
as said in 1st post there are difference that i personaly don't like (mostly cause of abits toward dota tbh, i can't really say it's better or worst, just too different for me in some aspects ^^)
-trade buildable / destructible tree to fixed ones with bushes that give one way vision
-wards are less numerous and smaller area, meaning far less map control
-all jungle mobs give passives to ppl that kill them
-jungling isd a thing, but like, you have to have someone that do it.
-theis is nashor (roshan) AND two secondary objectives to kill in jungle and river.
-barracks (inhabitors) respawn over time. meaning mega creeps isn't really a definitive thing.
-a lot (most, in fact) skills are skillshots.
^for all this i really don't really have a "it's better or worst feeling"
for what goes next i highly prefer dota, but i think it depend of tastes. some are just a no go for me regardless of what can be better around x)
-far less active items in lol.
-a lot of movement things have insane cd. (portal scroll don't exist, one skill to choose from a dozen, one is a tp to tower. cd more than 200s...)
-no courrier. you have to die, or back, and lose time to stuff yourself.
-the camera angle is really giving a different feeling (the zoom level O_x)
-can't dismantle items
-you have "runes" that used to be meta progression (yep, in a moba) now you have all runes unlocked, but you have to create your builds out of games before playing so... seem strange.
Have you tried "Smite"? It's awesome, plus it has a Ranked 1v1 Ladder. It's free to play, and it is always making crossover with other IP's (Avatar, from Nickelodeon, just to mention one example). It's a different camera angle aswell - but like in League, you get to unlock heroes either by playing or paying - but you start with a few cool ones.
Ages ago I installed both - Dota and Lol. And feeling of the game and graphics in that time convince me to play Dota.
At the moment because of internal Dota 2 problems I stopped enjoying the game. To be clear I play solo. And none of modes, rank, unrank or even Turbo doesn't bring enjoyable experience because of completely messed up matchmaker system. This is main reason why I consider switching to another Moba.
Strife was Dota 2 Turbo on steroids :) Quick and intensive experience. It is a shame that game died :(
I was watching gameplays on youtube. I'm not very convinced of that camera angle. But maybe it is a right time to try something a bit different than classic Moba. Is a matchmaker closer than matchmaker in Dota?
I only have a hundred hours or so in the game, but I can tell you that I had a lot of fun. The game allows you to play with a controller aswell, which is actually pretty cool for a MOBA. There are many game modes, and I always felt the games to be "fair and fun", generally speaking. It's been a long time since I last played it, but I would recommend it still: the player base is small but steady (steamcharts says 10.000 concurrent, which might be small but it really isn't that bad) and the Pro Scene is real.
I think it's worth installing and giving it a go.
Many friends went to LOL, they tell there are sure Problesm With SMurfs, but not so extrem like in Dota!
game is designed to allow one side to push their advantage if they get any
pros and 12k mmr pub games also have very one sided games, and often for both teams involved, because when u get ahead u can use it get more ahead, just like if u have a million dollars u can use it make 10s of millions and compound
close games arent supposed to exist except either at a pro scene or in case of two extremely horrible teams that dont know how to end (very low mmr, <4-5k)
