You should just throw your computer in the trash.
So while I welcome and League players who want to join DotA because it's a better game, I can't guarantee that swapping to Valve means you'll have some kind of ultimate freedom to behave like an ***, anyhow.
It's fine. I've seen a lot of Vac bans, and I know Dota 2 dev team can handle more cheaters, and that they are working on a Behavior Score and we are testing that behavior score as we speak. More players means more diverse pool - it's not only cheaters that are coming here from LOL.
You have been using the forum recently, and read all the lump of coal threads? Those alt acconts were VAC banned. How can you say taht you never saw a single account being banned?
No, it's not. It will be a refuge for a lot of people that don't like intrusive Anti-Cheating systems that can lead to exploits and data leak.
In fact the common consensus on the LoL subreddit is that most people have never even seen cheaters/hackers after 10k+ games.
Summary of what makes it problematic:
- Vanguard makes it impossible for a decent chunk of their users to play the game due to requiring TPM 2.0. Older PCs and Linux are out. (Part of League's selling point was that it can run on potatoes, it's on every device in every internet cafe alongside CS:S)
- It's a rootkit that runs on your PC 24/7 even if you don't have their client/games running. Routine system-wide scans connected directly to Tencent. (Security concerns aside it also reduces RAM/SSD lifespans)
- There's a plethora of reported cases where Vanguard (as part of Valorant) has completely bricked user systems, it's not a stable or well optimized program. There's also been documented proof of Vanguard sabotaging people's non-Riot games such as performance reductions in WoW (from 60FPS to 20FPS). Endless threads of people suddenly, magically having performance issues on their relatively new PCs and the solution was always to get rid of Vanguard, fixed all BSOD/FPS issues.
You should quote the explanation or edit on the post. Very good post, thanks for all the information!
If you can conclude that much you should also realise that majority of the league user base pc hardware potato spec from third world countries internet cafes can't run Dota 2 64 bit application which nullifies your 1st point of TPM2 if Dota 2 allowed 32bit application it would be different story outcome
Even majority of Dota 2 players wouldn't be able to do TPM 2.0 standard
TPM is worst than a rootkit its an security chip that larps are security while giving away backdoor to anyone who knows the secrets thus its not fool proof or even secure to begin Tencent is the least of the worries for LoL TPM rootkit
TPM as security does filter out the half the cheating population easily that's the benefit of having TPM as security for anti cheat which is just lazy method for anti cheat essentially certainly will be better than Valve Anti Cheat
Vanguard is just bloated piece of trash anti cheat that works better than other anti cheat systems like VAC god I hate the current software engineering meta bloat is better than optimisation
League players with bad hardware specs who were running 32 bit application wouldn't be able to run dota 2 in the first place that's why your entire point of league players returning to dota 2 wouldn't make any sense thus that leaves <10% of the league player population from first world countries which is not much but certainly bigger than current dota 2 population even these players will leave Dota 2 because these new league to dota 2 newcomer players will just have bad experience than league due to cheaters, griefers and how current matchmaking matches new players with smurfs still not fixed after a decade
