New Player: Is there a Soraka like Healer in the game?
Hey everyone :)

I'm about to get started with Dota2, but I don't want to try all champions as my first doing in the game. I've played a lot of League of Legends in the past and always liked the support champs there the most. Does Dota2 have champs that focus on healing other champs?, maybe something with low cooldowns and "big" heals" like Soraka from LoL? Something like Leona or Galio would be nice too :)

Chen, but it's hard hero and not in the meta atm.

Treant Protector has a living armor, global skill, that not only provides armor but also heals, and it also work in buildings too. He has a debuff on an enemy, that makes that enemy "shoots healing projectiles towards your allies".

Witch Doctor has an area over effect heal, plys a lot of control.

Omniknight is in a bad state, not worth talking about since he is too complex.

Oracle has a combination where you can heal people pretty fast, and his ultimate is a safety bubble.

These are just some examples.

Most healing you will be doing in Dota is by items - such as mekanism that heals in area - self healing items that anyone can buy - magic stick and consumables.

Not sure their is a hero that exactly copy any of thoses, but as a partial answere;

As of heroes,

-chen is hard but do the trick,
-omninight, melee with all pros and cons (harder to kill but harder to harass ennemy)
-dazzle, wich is one of the more support heal - buff - debuff with relatively low skill needed (no offense, just thinking about the fact their is a lot of ne things to learn so better to use a simple to play hero at start ^^)
-treant protector have a great kit too, giving armor to allies, healing (by life stealing ernnemies), slowing and rooting. An all around kit to help in lane and teamfight.
-Pugna (but require lvl 6) ultimate is both a damage dealer to ennemy (you drain his hp) and heal your allies (you insuflate your own hp in allies), he also have a spell that prevent physical attack that can be used on ally to protect or ennemy to disable their right click. Be warned that in both case, it mean no attack possible.
-Oracle, a little tricky cause his heal need to be preceded by a buff otherwise it actually damage your allies. His ult is inccredible asd it's basicaly a guarantee that you ally won't die for few seconds.

Dota is a little more about active items.

So on top of heroes, consider items;

-Mekanism (evolute in Guardian Greaves later on the game)
-Holy Locket self target but can give a good kick to a friends hp
-Urn of Shadows, evolving later in Spirit Vessel is basicaly a self replenishing infinite life potion as long as you get kills or assist killing. (can also be applied on enemy to do an extra kick of dmg)
-Bottle (usualy more a p2 item but it can help sustain in hard moments)
-Lotus (items that you find in lotus pool in top and botlanes sides.
-healing salve, tango, and clarity

Dazzle is just amazing. A combat healer that benefits from keeping the debuff with his attacks, heals and damage in a random great part, has a save with grave and with items and cooldown reductions, can make amazing plays like grave forcestaff someone and then getting in the path between the fleeing invoker and slark so he lashes on you and not on the invoker.

You die, of course. Even with ghost scepter. But man, that Invoker owned that game.

Oracle is the best healing saving support. Try him.

Too bad you missed his early days.

you can play chen easy mode like only convert monsters when you have shard and push lines with ancients, the early game ganking chen is hard, but if you skill convert in late game he's totally viable too, since they buffed him and changed him to universal hero hes pretty tanky if you get early game 2 bracers, you can also go crazy and go manta/maelstorm for better rat/push.
