Getting matched with different skill brackets

I'm a legend scrub and somehow today I've gotten into too many games where my enemy consists of 2 or 3 immortal ranked players and they always end up being a trashing. What gives? Did something change with how matchmaking works? They're not even a stack. I'm just wasting my time getting owned by players who are without a doubt better than I am. I just want to play with people in my skill level so I can at least enjoy the games.

If its unranked then yes that can happen. Most immortals play ranked games exclusively but the times where they do que unranked games, there are very few other players that can form an equal game and so they just get thrown at whatever game is available/possible. It happens to certain immortal accounts. Could also be a hidden mmr thing, since ranked and unranked mmr are two different things, their unranked might not have adjusted.

I mean that's fine, I've had my fair share of playing against Immortal players every now and then but usually it's like only one in the team not 2 or 3 of them - and they're not even stacked.

Can be due to 2 things.bad timezone server etc leading to less players your rank in queue pool making the mmr variance higher to create matches or bad behaviour score which lead to lower amount of people possible in the match queue resulting in likely higher skill variance.

There has been a decade of arguing about matchmaking, including the consitently unbalanced matches. I told you the answers you will get here. Valve will not answer nor will they listen, you are not the first who noticed this matchmaker is garbage.

Then, that's your answer. Turbo is the official smurf mode in Dota2. The shiny medals and the ranked mmr behind it are not used for turbo matchmaking. It's the hidden mmr that is used for mm in turbo and for turbo spammers like you it doesn't change a bit although you have gotten better or worse over the years.

I see, I guess turbo is really just seen as some playground, sucks to be playing turbo exclusively these days. Even some of my matches earlier I had immortal players on the other team. It wasn't this bad before, I would often get up to ancient players but rarely divine and immortal. But somehow I've been playing against divine and immortal a lot more lately. I refuse to think I ranked up because I'm definitely worse at the game now than when I was at my peak - I would even argue that I'm no longer a legend but now down to archon. I just want to enjoy the game with people in my skill bracket so it's not a stomp. I have been playing turbo because I don't have much time to play these days but if I'm playing against divine and immortal players then that's like a waste of time too.

So "I just want to play with people in my skill level so I can at least enjoy the games." isn't about the system that gives you players not on your skill level?

I see, I guess turbo is really just seen as some playground

It's not the best place to measure skill. Turbo is less about being good or having a deep understanding of the game and more about who can get their items the fastest.

The game is clearly dead, there aren't enough players at your skill level. We're all shadow banned and sub 2k or everyone is Divine+
