Very Small Prize Pool

Venue so empty that was actually sad

Cringe Casting and Hosting (Sunsfan casting is just bad, host was bad too)

Horrible Segments (almost to nothing)

No All Star Match

Gaben bailed, again

Hero Reveal was worse than Muerta (Remember the MK release? With the kung-fu? Or techies release, with people going crazy and all star games actually playing techies? Or that cool CGI with Void Spirit / Snapfire?)

Hero reveal was so bad it deserves two bullet points: the video presentation is axe falling into a coffin in a low budget cgi - people did not cheer loud as usual hero releases, to a point that Tsunami that was hosting was interrupted by slacks in a cring fake hype situation)

Hero reveal was so bad it deserves a third bullet point: you can see in AUI_2000 face how underwhelming it was. No one talked about, because the video review did not even show the hero model!

The "Video Contest" was a ridiculous: again, a professional CGI production team won (the same from last year), by doing another "action movie with naruto-like music background". Budget wins instead of creativity. It's not a community contest when creativity loses to production value.

Crimson Witness Treasure was just a re-release of the immortals from the past year.

Cosplay competition was 15 minutes long with Tsunami calling one of the judges old ("Yeah, looking at you, we can tell you are experienced" - he manage to save face by saying "your custome shows that you put a lot of work in it" but you can see in her face that he called her old.)

The high ground defense was annoying and frustrating - gameplay wise, this will be known as the "Hand of Midas TI".

P.S.: I'm not even gonna talk about Treasures and Compendium, because we got NO ARCANA VOTE, NO "CAVERN" Sets, NO "EVENT", No Treasures. People used to link TI to Sets, Voice Lines to TI. This TI they recycled the voice lines and even remixed them into the team introductions. All the TI traditions were butchered. One can say that is because Dota has lost a lot of players due to the Russia x Ukraine conflict and also because Dota is a DEAD GAME in China. The fact is that we got used, and the world got used to, Dota being this massive, super production, that would add stuff to the game - and this year, TI added nothing. They downscaled EVERYTHING.

Oh, and another thing:

The winning team won 3-0.

A little bit of numbers regarding Prize pool over the years

  • 2013 - $2,874,380
  • 2014 - $10,931,105
  • 2015 - $18,429,613
  • 2016 - $20,770,460
  • 2017 - $24,787,916
  • 2018 - $25,532,177
  • 2019 - $34,330,068
  • 2021 - $40,018,195
  • 2022 - $18,930,775
  • 2023 - $3,143,593

This TI has the LOWEST Contributed Prize Pool since 2013. And it's not just lower: it's almost 6x times lower than last year and ~13x times lower than in 2021.

Why is this so important?
-Base prize pool always stays the same: $1,600,000, the rest is being gathered from players buying compendiums. People didn't buy compendium this year and the numbers are catastrophic. I have only 2 reasons in mind to explain it:
  1. No worthy rewards in compendium - this means Valve put less effort in development of the game
  2. People has lost interest - I think it's also related to the recent updates, when a lot of "olds" left dota, because of the major "rework".
Unfortunately, this game is on dying path, UNLESS Valve does something exceptional next year. Future TIs might become even more and more boring since smaller prize pools doesn't help in attracting more players or organizations, quite the opposite.

I'm afraid, this is it, gentleman, we're in the endgame of dota now.

When people talk about small prizepool its because this year they have released a very ♥♥♥♥♥♥ compendium without no skins, this is the first time i havent bought it, because its useless. Valve can clearly see when there is no battlepass around TI which contributes to prizepool we are going back to 2013 rewards. This is going to happen next year if they do the same.

that's what they say every year xd
