How to make block of cheese?

I had three greater lotus flowers and a cheese in my inventory, not in backpack. Nothing happened :(

I've had a handful of other times when items simply didn't combine for some strange reason.

Maybe you had great lotus instead of greater?

i recently saw a short on YT that its not combining sometimes. Video maker put it in backpack then put it in main inventory and it worked. Maybe same thing.

I did try that in the game. It's not likely I'll get into that situation again though sadly, so I probably won't be able to try once more :(

Oh well! I guess I learned something
