How common are cheaters in your experience?

Just had a game against an extremely obvious scripter/maphacker. It was so obvious it wasn't even funny, extremely blatant.

However, this is the first cheater I've seen in like... 800+ games or something. Ignoring smurfs, cheaters seem to be extremely rare in my experience.

What about others? Have other people had lots of experience with cheaters or just rarely like me?

really rare, well i guess VAC is doing work
not sure about maphack but cheats are usually insta item/spell script, like morphling str shift vs a skywrath mage

you dont know who is cheating unless they make it very obvious. There are famous streamers who everyone who thought is a super pro and no one thought they were a cheater, they just thought they were damn good but later it was revealed they actually used a cheat

Rare i meet cheaters... scriptuser yes... but main problem are smurfs, not a single match without 5-6 smurf in it, its so pathetic

Yeah smurfs are in literally every single game I play and smurfing is cheating, which is why I had to clarify in my post :( It's really sad

Depends what you define a cheater. Real Cheating like map hacks are really rare. Dumb Russians who use scripts and only play Tinker or Invoker is pretty common. It got a bit better after the trash at valve managed to grow a second brain cell after 10 years and started banning them but its far from perfect.
Also smurfing is de facto allowed. I know some gaben ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ will now tell you it isnt but Valve gives litteraly 0 ♥♥♥♥♥ about smurfs. There are videos of pro players smurfing on twitch or youtube and not a single one has ever been banned. So you can smurf as much as you want and the chance of getting a bann is basically 0.

Smurfing is in fact not allowed valve said so in a recent update the best way describe smurfing is an 18 playing a 7 year old in a basketball game telling him to just get good.

Smurfing is in fact not allowed and i would agree it is to me a form of cheating.

thats nromal, ever when you see in enemy Team Russian, normal game Over. The Game before exact in Fights Monitor is Freezing etc. This is not normal. Ban the Russians From European Server. this is not normal.

Smurfing is definitely cheating and I'm surprised just how long it's taken so many players to realise that. So many other games encourage smurfing or even say it's perfectly allowed, like league of CS:GO. I'm glad that era is finally closing and smurfs are finally being banned more thoroughly.

It's not easy to tell in Dota, I came to dota after 3k hours of CSGO so it was very strange to see that people didn't constantly accuse each other of cheating in this game, now I have more Dota playtime than CSGO and this is what I know:
1. Dota does not seem to have a serious cheating problem as opposed to CS
2. There are more cheaters in Dota than the average Dota player believes
3. you need a decent understanding of heroes and item to the last detail to even be qualified enough to detect most cheats
4. cheating in Dota is NOT MUCH FUN compared to a game like CSGO
5. cheating at Dota does not guarantee wins and it will NOT MAKE YOU BETTER

to understand the last 2 points think of the reasons someone might cheat
*to get an advantage over enemy
*to troll people
*to easily make it to high ranks
*to get off on cheating without people finding out you're cheating and feeling better about yourself

none of these are easy to achieve in Dota with cheats, most of the times people won't know you're cheating, there's so much bs in dota that they just assume it's something they don't know about so no challenge there and no trolling. Also if you use scripts and vision cheats, you just get worse at the game and past a certain mmr you get matched vs people who are far and above better than you and easily destroy you and you drop mmr and even then you're playing vs people with better understanding of the game than you cause they did the work themselves and not with cheats, compare that to CSGO where you can spawn in enemy base fire 5 shots and wipe a pro team with 0 skill.

so Dota does have cheaters but at the end of the day it's not all that much worth it because of the complexity of the game and the type of cheats available, if we had cheats that ignored stuns, gave infinite hp and mana and things like that it would be a different story.

Cheater is more dangerous for me! Cheat Application has many functions! True sight without objects and skills! Vision without objects and skills (they see even when you use SMOKE)! The biggest "Ebana Kurva" is Cheat who disconnects selected allies and opponents! Have you tried to play the match from 4 min 1vs 3? Important match, 100% loss (only Cheater could win)!

Every third - fourth game. The most common hack is obviously map hack and autocast autodeny/autolasthit.
