I thought GG was supposed to mean "Good Game"
People just say GG nowadays with little regard to its meaning.

If it is a curbstomp, it's not a good game.

If someone disconnnects, it's not a good game.

If someone is feeding on purpose, don't say GG because you are stuck in a stupid match.

GG

I cry everyday

I say it to be polite. If my team got stomped into the ground, I say GG to indicate the enemy team played better than ours.

It's a formality, and not meant to be taken 100% literally.

I think it's rather rude to not say GG, unless the enemy team is full of ♥♥♥♥♥.

LOL at people arguing because a word has come to mean something different than its original. you know gay used to mean happy, right?

What's the deal with the winning team GGing first too? If you did that in a game of Starcraft you'd be blacklisted immediately.
It doesn't really matter how people played, we say gg to be respectful to everyone. Saying "we shouldn't say GG unless every player did well" is the reason people call the community toxic. The only time you shouldn't is when people are actively being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over all chat at you or someone on their own team.

What is context?

*Jeopardy theme plays*
That's like complaining when your teammate says gl hf at the beginning of a game. Despite what you may think, players use gg to be polite the same you would say good game to the other soccer team after a soccer match. Dota doesn't have face to face communication, so typing gg at the end is all we have to show sportsmanship.

Oooooor you can do both like I do. Even if we stomp them as long as they weren't being ♥♥♥♥♥ I'll say wp anyways.

Because seriously, if we smashed the enemy team, I'd rather hear someone compliment me in a natural way "Well played guys" instead of hearing the robotic "GG" response where I know they're only saying it without actually meaning.

They effectively mean the same thing, so yes, you could do that. Your argument revolves around people not observing the "technical" definition of GG, rather than the practical meaning of saying GG.

To which I respond: who cares? Besides you, obviously.

Who said anyone else should care?

No one is trying to start an activism here.

If you think I made this thread to start a political awareness, then go away. You've misunderstood everything.

"Then why did you make this thread in the first place" you protest in your deep nasally voice.

"Because I can, and I want to, and this thread is hurting no one so if you don't care then feel free to leave.

GG no Re

I'm done with you.

Wow that's pretty bold. How on earth could you know some random person's intentions by them typing two letters instead of three words. Now we're playing with assumptions.
