Dota has traditionally used a modified version of the Elo algorithm to implement Rank and Rank Confidence changes. But over time we've noticed a few problems with our approach. For one example, the distribution of MMRs has gradually shifted lower, causing an undesired clumping in the 0-1000 MMR range. Another problem was that players who took a break and returned were having a hard time getting back to an accurate MMR, because their previous skill level was no longer representative.

Most players knew that the matchmaker was the direct cause for the inability to rank up except for a few trolls, but they won't admit that they were wrong.
Exactly, these people were wrong, and when there is finally evidence to prove that they were wrong they try to change the topic.
I think they sanitized the ladder so people are finally going where they likely should be. Recently, my last 10 games were much easier then they used to be so i probably should be even higher
Der, they finally listened. Im playing ancients and divines atm (albeit some probably shouldn't be there) and ive been crusader 2 and legend 5 like a yoyo (up and down a few times in the last few years). All because of terrible matching. It's finally fixed to some extent (without Valve showing how they calculate). only took them 5 years after the original MMR to fix it. And many threads on how to fix it zzz
Your stratz LITERALLY gave you the same form of distribution that my site was providing all this time that you were arguing with me. Normal distribution with clamp at immortal level.
There were never any problem with that and just because you got 1000 or so of free mmr doesn't make you better. You have easier games if you get stronger teammates, but it's harder games for your teammates since they effectively had to play with herald in their rank.
And there is so much crusader level players now at legend.
Holy moly you are dense.
I have thoroughly exposed you on virtually every topic, which is not saying much since you are incessant on speaking on statistics which you are flat out inept at.
With regards to stratz, the distribution NOW reflects a normal distribution because Valve literally boosted ALL low ranked accounts to fit their desired outcome. However, prior to patch 7.33 in fact the majority of the playerbase was stuck in Guardian and Crusader, which in fact was admitted by Valve. You can see the old distribution for comparisons on the same site. Your source was objectively wrong, because prior to patch 7.33 it reflected that the majority of the playerbase was in Archon, which Valve flat out refuted was the case. If anything, this proves that stratz is more accurate since it validates everything that Valve has released; this means that prior to patch 7.33 the majority of the playerbase was stuck in low ranks (which Valve admitted), but after patch 7.33 Valve boosted ranks thereby shifting the distribution right. For some reason you believe that Valve changing the mm somehow supports your stance BEFORE the change was implemented. I have come to expect nonsensical statements from you, but this is on a whole other level.
IDK why you are so intent on pushing an issue that you have already been proven to be incorrect on.
And of course there are crusaders in Legend; Valve introduced a new mm that is easily exploitable by anyone who is willing to take the effort. The new mm is so poorly designed, that it actually gives old/abandoned accounts MORE of an opportunity to rank up than people who have been playing consistently for years. Most of the core problems with the matchmaker (trolls/greifers, extreme variance of skill in lobbies, etc.) are still present, and are arguably much worse now.
they get mad if the number isn't going up, they also get mad if it goes up too fast.
its like ranked andys are never happy about the system, they absolutely hate their lives and the game but they never quit either, they just keep on seething.
its like no matter what change they introduce, something is always wrong
i think we need turbo ranked or ability draft ranked. fix the old cancer with new cancer.
