Dota 2
Has anyone experienced or have a fix for high FPS but doesn't feel like high FPS?
Hi everyone.

I haven't been playing DOTA2 for a long time and I was just wondering if this is a common issue or is there a fix or settings that I don't know of regarding this issue.

So I run DOTA2 with 100+ fps mostly on highest settings. I also have a 144hz monitor.
But somehow when I play the game it looks and/or feels like it's running on 40-50 fps. I can really see it's not smooth, especially if I compare it with videos of gameplay.
And then, I tried to lower the settings to make sure it's not my hardware choking. I set the setting to lowest setting and I can still see that it doesn't run smoothly. So the fps count does show 120+ fps but it looks and feels like its in the 40s.

I wanna know if anyone experienced it before and might have any fix for it?

I am using NVIDIA GPU (2070 S).
I have tried different fps max limit sliders. I tried both Vsync on and off.

Guys, I found a solution for myself, maybe it will helps you

I Installed Windows 11 (I don't know if this setting exists on 10), go to settings>game mode>graphics>standard graphics settings>optimize for games in windowed mode - enable it

then enter launch options and paste -high -map dota -no3d9ex -nohltv -novr -nojoy -novid

and important, set window borderless mode in dota settings

I don’t know what exactly helped me, I just listed what I did and I got a stable smooth 120-130 fps as it was before the patch

Yes, apparently the version of Windows has nothing to do with the performance of the game.
The issue might lie in a specific pc component since other people do not experience any issues at all. I assume it might be related to the CPU since dota is a very cpu heavy game.

I have an AMD Ryzen 7 cpu, what about you guys? Anyone having this issue on a INTEL processor?
i am using intel i5 9400F-RTX 3060 Ti-Win10, before new frontiers patch always 200+ fps but now only 100-150 fps

Sadly no. I just semi-retired from DOTA2 anyway, I kinda fell off of it.

I had a similar issue. I could get about 200 fps from the game but especially when i moved the camera the fps felt like 30. I fixed the issue by changing the refresh rate in the video settings. It was at 2560x1440 60Hz and i changed it to 165Hz (My monitor is 170Hz) and it runs very smooth now. I dont know if you tried this, just wanted to share in case it helps.

Greetings to everyone. I am also getting the similar problem. I bought almost the highest level computer to play Dota, which is my greatest pleasure, but even though I get 220 fps, the game is not smooth, I have freezing or stuttering problems during movement and in combats, the screen transitions are not healthy. My hardware; MSI Raider 68 HX i9 13th generation nvidia 4070 screen 2500*1600 240hz

Try VULKAN renderer.

Also limit the FPS -5 FPS below refresh rate.

For me, VULKAN runs better than DX11
