i do not know what you actually did for what the actual trigger was and i'd assume you somehow leaked your steam guard verification which i highly doubt you did.
you can still get phished in this day despite having steam guard as it evolved, to begin with, some methods bypass the verification methods previously as it forcibly bypass email verification and/or without notice, depending on the scenario, go through steam guard.
i dont know what method did you fall for exactly, but i assure you, steam guard didn't really change much as methods are capable of catching up to completely bypass verification due to whatever method they got your information by.
Valve got back to me in like 2 to 3 days. All trades were reversed.
They will ask you to change password and all of that. But honestly, if you have the option, it is best to install a clean copy of windows then change password.
Sucks big time, I lost about £5k worth of items all whilst I was in a game. Defo a learning curve
